bbc1 show on playlist appears as bbc iplayer

I have set Great British Menu up on my playlist from the BBC channel but when I select from the playlist it takes me to bbc iplayer, it would appear this is happening with any programmes I add from ITV channel they appear on playlist as ITV X but I dont want to watch via itvx as I dont want the adverts, the whole purpose of "recording" is to whizz through adverts but I cannot see how to add programmes from ITV to then view on playlist as ITV the same goes for programmes as I mentioned ie Great British Menu selected on bbc channel to add to playlist then have to view from playlist via bbc i player

That's how it works . Very few channels are recorded in the cloud.

Thats expected.

BBC prefer the viewship via the iPlayer as it will help them figure out which shows are popular and just perhaps just them justify the license fee ( which is particularly important at the moment with the government looking at how the license fee may change within the next few years).

ITV obviously prefer the viewship through ITV X as it will again help with viewership numbers, helping them attract advertisers. Also you are forced to watch the ads which likely means tehy can attract higher fees for ads in ITV X than they can selling on their live channels. To avoid ads on ITV X you either will need to subscribe to ITV X Premium or the sky ad-skipping pack ( which will allow you to fast forward the ads).

Only channels without their own apps can be expected to play back from a 'cloud recording' (and not all content will be available in that way either)

If you want to whizz through the ads you have to pay extra for that too.

@you will find that this is the way the tv broadcast industry is migrating to. That's how the new freeview freely also works. The days of recording on to a pvr are drawing to a close .....
