Why does my sky stream download all day behind the scenes

My sky stream is downloading all day long in the background, this is causing problems with all devices towards the end of the month when i have met my internet limit. But why does it do this? My internet provider (not Sky) said our 2 stream pucks are downloading all day and using 50GB per day. By week 3 of the  month they had used over a terrabyte. This can't be right surely, how can I get this fixed?

@SasT1 That's how Stream operates. Every programme on it is streamed via your broadband.

@SasT1  Perhaps changing to a provider without data limits (which is about 99% of them) is probably the best option.

Using one with caps is never a good idea when using streaming devices.

Thanks but I thought it was just whilst you was watching TV that it downloaded the necessary programme(s). They said it's downloading all day long.

Its constantly connected to Sky's servers.

It works differently to most other internet devices which don't rely on a constant remote connection to a server, as most streaming devices will have apps installed locally, which run locally and only when you open the app are you connecting to a remote server.
