Whole

So I've just joined Sky and I'm wanting to be able to watch sky in all rooms that have a tv but not having to watch the same things as I have children who want their own tv etc. My question is why when I'm adding a subscription call whole house which you'd think would cover all tvs on the house am I then told I have pay alot more for extra things to pay the programmes on these tvs? Why have a package that then you need to pay extra for a package within that one to get what the initial package is claiming? Doesn't make any sense to me i just want sky the same tv package I gave for my main tv for the rest of the home but can't get much sense or help from sky customers service it's very hard to undertake this package it feels. Do I need to pay for whole house package 3 more time to get the right equipment to play through the other tvs in my home?

@HLC93

Whole Home is terminology used for Sky Glass and Stream. So do you have Sky Q (where you've posted)?

There are 3 factors regarding what you can watch on your Sky TV packages @HLC93

  1. First is the package content you have chosen.  This relates to exactly what channels to which you are subscribed and whether or not you are paying for the monthly add on for HD or HD + UHD resolution.
    The additional packs for Sky Sports and Sky cinema are in HD as standard.  Whereas all the Entertainment channels apart from free to air ones are in SD as standard.
  2. Secondly if you watch to watch the above content on additional Televisions or tablets/phones etc you need the monthly Whole Home package. A single monthly sub covers all additional devices.
  3. Thirdly you need to pay additional one off upfront charges for each additional device (puck) that is required for additional Televisions.

'Whole Home' is a marketing name, not a literal promise.  As noted above, it's a monthly subscription supplement for the content service to cover all the screens (up to six if there's enough bandwidth) plus a one-off fee for each additional 'puck' to connect to those television sets.

Sky has always charged users for viewing on additional television sets and the hardware to do so: the relevant add-ons were 'Multiroom' on Sky+ / Sky+ HD (with additional boxes being sold) and 'Multiscreen' on Sky Q (where Mini boxes have a fee)
