Wavering
So my Sky Q has gone bang. Engineer coming tomorrow
I had one last week. He fixed the initial problem but clearly there was something more deeply wrong. Anyway while he was here I asked him about Sky Stream. He said he would not normally recommend it (joked about putting him out of a job.). But - in my case he thought it might be worthwhile. I live very near the coast and have the dish on a pole. Which would be/is vulnerable to wind gusts - I also have rock solid broadband. FTTP with over 500 download
I don't tend to watch recorded programmes again after the initial viewing so the playlist wouldn't be an issue for me.
I recognise that there have been various reviews on here and there are differing viewpoints but just wondered if anyone had any thoughts on my particular situation. I should say that - while I take his point about the dish - it's been up there for 10 years and only moved once. I don't know what the issue is this time but suspect it's the box itself
And a question. Does the next day delivery generally work. I live by myself and am out a lot so don't want to order and then find it actually turns out to be the day after
And can you specify a day further in advance if you want
Thanks for any help

Re: Wavering
It's a marmite product those who love it do love it those who hate do hate it. Stable Internet and internal WiFi or Ethernet are key. Q is ending so..... Ordering gives you tracking info in my case was 2 days.
All you can do is try it and if not for you return within the first 31 days.
Personally I think it still has too many bugs requiring resets, reboots etc. If you can live with a bit of faffing periodically then happy days.
Some post I have 3 Glass TV and 5 pucks with no issues at all. I ask, how do you achieve that, please share. Never had an answer 🤔
If you are an on demand viewer the Apple TV with a Now subscription is also worth looking at.

Re: Wavering
I'd agree with @Gincap - it's glitchy. I had it and found it to be a hugely disappointing experience compared to Sky Q.
Everyone I know who has sky stream has issues with it, to varying degrees.
It's pretty much impossible for Sky to offer a guarantee of it being a flawless service. With Sky Q they have to install dish, cabling and box. Point the dish at the satellite and you get the service. Simple.
With sky stream, even if you have what you think (and every other device connected to it thinks) is fast and stable broadband, there seems to be no guarantee the service will work reliably.
I for one wish I'd done more research before signing up to it. I found the stream pucks to be really clunky and slow and the continual glitches on live UHD sport were the last straw. I got rid of it and now get sport via the NOWTV streaming app which has worked flawlessly.

Re: Wavering
HI @Gincap I only have a single puck and certainly would not confess to never having any problems but in my case at least they are fairly rare and always resolved with a quick reboot.
As a maintenance measure I tend to unplug my puck every 7-10 days when I go out and let it reboot when I get home. I did the same when I had a Glass TV (Gen 1) and again had relatively few issues. This maintenance procedure coupled with a really stable broadband is, I believe, the main reason I have few issues.
I replaced my Glass TV in November 2023 as I realised the viewing experience of a Stream Puck combined with an OLED TV and Soundbar gave far superior picture quality.
If my post has solved your issue please mark as an "Answer" as it helps others identify the solution
If it has helped please give it a "Like"

Re: Wavering
In your case, having fibre broadband and from your described viewing, Stream should work well.
Like any tech, for my Sky Stream, there have been a few slight glitches over the 23 months or so I have had it.
The only major one for me was a back end issue back in 2024 that affected all Sky customers, but fixed promptly same day. The others, more around some app issues from the likes of Paramount+ and BBC iPlayer that also got sorted promptly with some investigation with customers and Sky on here.
For many many months or even through the almost two years all has been a pleasure and great experience for both my pucks and must admit through the very very busy viewing Christmas period, the pucks were 100% reliable with no issue whatsoever for all kinds of Sports live viewing, playlisted adding and viewing, linear channel viewing, multiple app viewing (YouTube, Discovery+, Radio player, Xumo, U, Apple TV, Spotify, Disney+, IPlayer, ITVx, Paramount+, C4, C5, Sky Store), plus viewing of all the many cloud recordings from Sky Sports and on those channels that do not have any On demand or apps like Great TV, Legend, QVC, Now music channels and the like.
I have Sky Ultrafast+ 500Mbps Broadband with two pucks on wifi and both my pucks get a good solid and reliable wifi signal.
Having a good local network and avoiding any localised interference is key to a reliable experience for Sky Stream.
Must admit I do not have any day to day issues with my pucks.
Have a read of my move from Sky Q to Sky Stream that I made just under two years or so months ago and some update posts after, linked in my signature.
I have no regrets at all with doing so.
As for delivery, one day delivery is normally the case, but as with any delivery can be delayed sometimes and subject to location restrictions. You will not be able to specify a time for delivery, but be aware that once your puck is delivered, if you don’t activate your Sky Stream puck within 21 days of delivery, your subscription and billing will start automatically.
