Watch by dates

I had the new Katherine Ryan stand-up show, First Born Daughter, set to record last night, but yesterday morning, I saw it was available to download. But I then noticed it was only available to watch for one month, so I left it & will watch the recording instead.

This got me wondering if this is standard practice with Sky Stream, whereby programmes have to be watched by a certain date. Does it happen a lot, or only now & again?

I have Sky Q, but I guess the day will come when I have to make a change, but I have to say, I don't like the idea that programmes may only have a limited time to be seen. Quite often on Sky Q, I will record something & let it sit there for some time before watching it. If I can't do this with Stream, then that's not good.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more

@Mr+Ripley  That is standard practice on glass/stream , broadcasters have taken back control of how long customers have to watch content the available timeframes vary from days, weeks, months, years

Re: Watch by dates

@SKY1992bf  Thanks for the reply. Can't say I like the limited viewing time. It wasn't so bad back in the day when Sky did this with their Box Sets; we didn't have all the platforms we have now at the time, there wasn't so much viewing choice. There is so much now that it's hard to squeeze it all in.

If a show or a series is taken off at a certain date, do you know what the likelihood is of it being reinstated at a later date?
