Virgin Media Player app for Sky Stream puck

Hi,

I have Sky Stream on two TVs in my house and we make great use of the available apps on the Sky Puck. However the Virgin Media Player app is absent from the available selections in the apps section.

The addition of this Player to the service would greatly improve the useability and the appreciation of the Sky Stream service in our house.

Thank you.

Dave

It's not guaranteed the champions league full broadcast will be made available by Virgin Media Ireland to Sky servers as on demand and might be only highlights version that's made available instead.

Sometimes you have to watch the live broadcast instead as on demand version or recording not always made available or allowed for rights issues

Virgin Media Player standalone App not going to made available by virgin media to Sky Platform as they only provide some selected content as on demand to Sky Ireland servers for various reasons

You can try adding to playlist from tv guide in regards to virgin media channels but it's hit and miss if recording will happen and even when it does record it can be days later sometimes before it will show available for playback and sometimes not made available as on demand to Sky Ireland

Champions League TNT Sports/Premier Sports

For champions league it's best to have a subscription to Sports Extra which is (TNT Sports/Premier Sports) to get live champions league matches recorded and available for playback after match has ended but you must add to playlist from tv guide before live broadcast has started and some will be a series link for future matches and can take a few hours or next day to show for playback after broadcast has finished on occasions

Hi @Dossy

You aren't telling sky this is a customer helps customer community. Sky can't add apps unilaterally, they need to agree terms with the broadcaster etc.

The best thing to do would be to email sky's viewer relations team viewerr@sky.uk and virgin. The more people that do it the more likely something is happening.

I'll be honest as a UK customer I've got no idea what the relationship is between Sky and Irish broadcasters, which is what I am guess you are (an Irish customer)?

@Dossy

If you based in Republic of Ireland

You access Virgin Media on demand content

Sky Home page click TV Shows then scroll down until you see the Virgin Media tile and click on that

The on demand content it's uploaded to Sky servers it's not a app as such on Sky platform but you access the on demand content from the virgin media tile

It looks sort of similar to the standalone app you see available on mobile devices and other tv's but Virgin media Ireland do it differently on Sky platform and has differences to the app version

Note there can be a delay of a few days sometimes when virgin media Ireland upload their on demand content to Sky servers.

Re: Virgin Media Player app for Sky Stream puck

Thank you both for your suggestions. I shall email Sky tomorrow and I will check the Virgin Media content as per @Paul+Boland's suggestion after the Champions League tonight.

Great stuff.
