V2 Stream Puck

I have seen a post elsewhere on another site from someone who has a version 2 puck which they believe offers improved performance over the original.
It is identified as IPO61B-02-SKY-ant. Anyone else seen these and are they better?

As we have already mentioned on here on previous threads about the V2 type puck.

It is not a Gen2 puck, like the Sky Glass TV is an upgrade in specs to the Gen1 TV.

There is no expected performance difference to the current puck.

Expect, its just a similar chipset from another supplier. Something many hardware manufacturers do to help steady supply chains.

You cannot request one as a replacement for your current puck and as far as we are aware there is no plan for any replacement of a current puck with this one.

But expect going forwards, new customers will be sent one or the other

V2 pucks are the same in performance etc, the only difference between V1 & V2 is the onboard chip.

Like you I'm a customer here, Sky Employees are clearly identified as such.

Re: V2 Stream Puck

This is good news for Sky then because if V2 was better than V1 then we would all be demanding a swap!

@darling412001 Agree. Hopefully Sky will replace all the customers who have been suffering with various issues with Sky stream and get the updated puck

Re: V2 Stream Puck

It's like it's gone back to the old Sky+ days when everyone wanted a Pace box rather than a Thomson.
Or the Sky Q v2/v3 conundrum... power brick or no power brick? iPlayer UHD or no iPlayer UHD?
The v2 Stream pucks allegedly have a slimmer power adaptor, but whether or not they function any differently is TBC really. They might have slightly more RAM or a slightly faster SoC but it's all speculation as Sky don't publish the details.
That's the thing with Sky equipment, because you're not buying it, it's Sky's choice of hardware, not yours. As long as you can receive the service as advertised (more or less) then it doesn't really matter to Sky whether you're using a v1 or v2 Stream puck.
If it's anything like Sky Q then Sky's systems won't differentiate between the Stream puck versions anyway, so it'll be pretty futile trying to request a v2 puck.

Sky Puck Series 2 Released

There are reports on Reddit that a series 2 puck is out and in customers hands????

The puck is slimmer, the button underneath actually clicks on/off, the power inlet is grey in colour

Model : IP061B-02-SKY

The user reports improved performance and stability.

I have no confirmation if this is true so don't shoot the messenger.

@Gincap

Wouldn't be surprising if there was a hardware revision: the original SoC was long in the tooth even back in 2021 when the platform was released, and manufacturing supplies are likely to have run out.

Unfortunately everyone reading this forum is now going to be fretting about a nonexistent swap-out...

Interesting and could be positive news and possibly a more advanced puck if this is true and hopefully customers can be upgraded @Gincap

It's old news and has been discussed at length in this thread and elsewhere, there is NO upgrade path.

There's nothing to suggest it's 'updated' in any way.

There is but apparently there is not much difference really. Certainly no better performance.
