UI version 3.191.1

This new update landed today in my stream box and omg 😦 it's terrible. Very slow and unbelievably laggy.

Re: UI version 3.191.1

Is it definitely the UI version not the build version causing the lagginess?

I only say this because I was updated to 3.291.1 on the 1st September and it has been pretty much perfect for the past week.

However yesterday morning I noticed my build version has now been updated to QS040.051.00P  - and I am now noticing it's very laggy going up and down the rails on the homescreen. My UI version has not changed, only the build version.

@mancsmark @Truemartian - out of curiosity, have you restarted the puck since you noticed it got updated? I have noticed previously that sometimes after a new update it can get a bit slow and laggy until its been restarted, as though the upgrade process hasn't fully completed and the restart seems to kick it into gear.

Re: UI version 3.191.1

@MarkGoldsmith no I hadn't actually. Just done that now, and it does seem a little better, but still laggy. It seems to be if I'm playing a 'live' channel and then press the home button... navigating the UI is then laggy. If there's no channel playing - it's fine... no lag.

A good point @MarkGoldsmith .

For anyone that's interested, I always reboot my puck after noticing an update to either the build or UI version.  Every couple of weeks I also do a maintenance reboot to remove any glitches that may be building up.

Ah yes i know exactly what you mean. I've seen it doing that on and off for quite a while, like perhaps that lag isn't as bad in some updates but other updates make it worse again.

A few of us Superusers have noticed a recent build version and/or UI seems to have introduced some slight navigation lagging.

I have reported it to Sky for investigation

The UI has always been laggy at times no? Is this different / noticeably worse?

Mine is definitely "more laggy" since the build update.

Hi @Fothergill1

What's a Maintenance Reboot, how do you perform that?

Thanks in Advance

Re: UI version 3.191.1

Hi

Im on Build Version: QS040.052.00P and UI Version: 3.291.1.

I've noticed the lag.

I've also nituced in Settings>System Management>Resets & Updates, there are twi new options. Close Apps and Reinstall Apps.

Did the new Build Version or UI Version add those changes?

Thanks in Advance

@Barry+Mc+Kelvey

Hi Barry, it is just a normal reboot.  By a maintenance reboot I simply meant to imply I reboot for maintenance (preventative)  reasons rather than reacting to an issue.  I do it from time to time on all my devices but find it particularly beneficial on my stream puck which seems to be prone to building up minor glitches.  Apologies if my original wording caused confusion.

Yes, the recent UI builds have started to offer the new Apps refresh;

It now allows you to perform  quicker multiple functions with app issues, rather than just a generic 'long wait' apps refresh to happen.

There will aligned with this some better cache and local storage of the apps and updates for the Sky Glass/Stream devices.

This all happens quickly now.

I think the Close apps one is going to be a good quick fix for those busy times, when the cache and the like builds up.

Update all apps; this will update all apps on your device to the latest version and download any newly available apps.

Close apps; this will close all apps that are currently running in the background.

Reinstall apps; this offers you the ability to reinstall one of your apps on your device with any available updates. you may need to sign in again after this reinstalling

Re: UI version 3.191.1

Hi

When updating the apps, I wish they would show which apps in any were getting updated. Similar to how they do on iOS or Android.
