UHD and HD

I have 2 sky Pucks - one upstairs on an HD TV, and one downstairs on a UHD TV.

I want to watch F1 in UHD downstairs, but sometimes I like to watch upstairs.

if I record the GP in UHD, if I try to play upstairs I get the 'the content you have selected cannot be played on this device' message. I don't seem to be able to record both HD and UHD versions of the same content.

I don't want to record in HD as I mostly watch on UHD, I'd just like the option to watch HD in bed.

hi @Ach70

Assuming you have SKY Q (where you posted) and a main box & a mini then I am afraid UHD content cannot be downscaled

Many of us that record F1 record both the UHD & HD channels so we can watch on the main box or mini - it does mean you need to have a little more disc space and always do some housekeeping to delete after the weekend etc but it is the only way on SKY Q to be able to watch in UHD on the main TV or via the mini afterwards

Re: UHD and HD

@Ach70   I am in the same position as you.  I don't pretend to know the technical reasons why, but your bedroom tv is not designed to recieve UHD presumably like me because it is quite old as modern tv's all come with UHD functionality these days.  So anything you put on your Playlist in UHD will only be able to be watched on your downstairs tv I'm afraid.
