Trialled puck- cancelled contract afterwards
Oct24- Nice lady in Sky shop hard sold me on a trial. To be fair I desperately wanted away from VM but want keen on a sat. dish but she wasn't selling that anyway. So I got two pucks a few days later.
Setting up was actually easy so I tried to "test it to destruction", find out what was good/bad v VM. The price was the main draw-way cheaper but what was the real price as a user.
Outcome
1. love the size of the pucks. Unobtrusive.
2. setup easy. Profiles etc. a dawdle.
All seemed to be ok but then the irritations set in.
3. Sky cinema sell sell. Didnt like how that was too front and centre
4. Scrolling through all my fav channels was click click. Missed my page down button scrolling
5. pause live tv- only 20minutes.
6. watching a programme in my profile- fast frwd is not nearly as good as my VM recorded programmes- I have got very good at watching two programmes which were in at the same time. I would wait X minutes then watch one, fast frwding ads as nec, then, catch up the other doing the same, thus watching two progs with no ads in way less time than the actual progs.
7. Yes there are slight delays when choosing something and lip synch was odd at times. Irritating.
8. my main concern was that these boxes were plugged into very good VM bband. Neither box was plugged into the router. Would sky internet wired in a separate room be an issue? I would have to install that to find out. 😱 FFTTP was coming into the back via a cable hung near trees I have nit been happy with for years!
In the end, that last one was a risk. Adding in the poor fast frwd and page down facility, the boss, (the wife) wasnt enjoying the experience. So I rang up and cancelled. Just before that I was in my online bank only to find that the first payment had come out and on ringing up I found I would be charged a few ££ for the short trial. That was never explained-apparently it was in the small print.,😂
So my skirmish with sky is sadly over. Would a dish with a Q box have been any better? Wasnt offered that anyway-phasing out?
I have then had the joys of unplugging/replugging etc, waiting to return the boxes.
Im still with VM, unhappily because their customer service is v poor. Hey ho....thought anyone out there would like to hear these views and comment. Did I miss something?🤔🤔🤔

Stream (and Glass) is the first product since Sky Group ceased to be an independent pioneering British satellite television company: from 2018 it's been an overseas division of Comcast, a giant US cable television corporation. It wouldn't be surprising if such a significant development also led to a fundamental change in direction, particularly as the cluster of satellites which Sky uses (but has never owned) reaches its end of life around the turn of the decade.
Q is still available though, and is likely to remain a live product until the satellites cease transmission.

@Leeds06
That pretty much sums up my experience after doing that switch a year ago. The thing I miss the most is the ability on the V6 to be able to switch between six live channels even if it took five clicks. Incidently when I signed up I asked them to check if I could switch phones. The same day VM offered me a new deal for a bit more than half price.
