TNT Sport migration to HBO Max

Hi,

I would be grateful if anyone could give me some advice on the foillowing:

I currently get the TNT Sport channels through Sky, although this is paid for via BT, my broadband provider (I am a heritage customer from the old BT Sport days).

Whilst I can watch the channels live on Sky, I have never been able to access sports content through Discovery+, although I used to be able to through the old BT Sport app. Any catch-up I see is dependant on what I can see through the Sky platform.

I know that the TNT Sport channels and Discovery + sport content are moving to HBO Max on 26th March and I've read the info put out by the various partiers involved.

However, I'm not clear which category my subscription profile falls into.

Will it count as a "gets it through Sky", meaning that I should follow that option on the HBO Max app on 26th, or should I be logging in with my exisitng Discovery+ details, which have never let me see any sport to date?

I don't want to chose the wrong option on 26th as I know from past experience these can somethimes be very diffilcut to unwind.

Thanks.

@MCF888

Probably wise to wait until Thursday because at this point in time nobody has any actual evidence of how the TNT migration to HBO Max will work.

Have read this but not sure if it's accurate from AI

Sky TV: Most Sky customers will have HBO Max "Basic with Ads" included in their subscription from 26 March. TNT Sports subscribers via Sky will need to activate their account in the HBO Max app on launch day.

@Super+Anthony

Wait for Sky to make an official announcement of the process on Thursday. Not some random AI gibberish, pulled together from a bunch of forum and reddit speculation no doubt.

I'm not sure that will necessarily be the case. I would have thought that if you subscribe to TNT Sports via Sky, then similar to how your "included Discovery+" subscription got automatically upgraded to the Premium tier to include sports, a similar thing will happen: your Basic with Ads HBO Max subscription, once linked to your Sky account, will automatically get upgraded to include the Sports subscription add-on.

Just an educated guess based on how it currently works for Discovery +, but obviously, the exact process will be published by Sky on Thursday once HBO Max launches.

@MCF888  I am the same I watch through sky hardware (sky+hd) but pay bt for my access since 2017 long before sky were able to sell bt sports direct

however I had no issues accessing via the old bt sports app or have I have had issues accessing the sports via discovery plus using my discovery plus credentials on the standalone native discovery plus app on my mobile devices and tv outside of sky hardware

When bt sports became tnt bt sent me instructions how to link my bt account to a discovery plus account without using sky hardware and it's worked flawlessly ever since

now that tnt sports is moving to hbo I've received an email from discovery saying all I need to do on Thursday is to download the hbo app and sign in with my discovery plus credentials to continue to watch the sports

Re: TNT Sport migration to HBO Max

If you pay BT for the TNT Sport channels, then the access to Discovery+ today and HBO Max tomorrow is through them. I would check with them as to the position, as you should get the sport channels now.

However, the thing to be careful with, and may be affecting you, is that most standard Sky packages come with the basic tier of Discovery [and HBO going forward]. However, using that Sky login won't get you the sports tier. BT should give you a separate login which will get the sport. I used to get the channels via BT like you and ended up with two logins to Discovery+, and just ignored the Sky one.

Note that the Discovery+ / HBO Max BT login can be used on the app on Sky boxes as well as your TV and any other boxes you have.

Re: TNT Sport migration to HBO Max

@SKY1992bf

Thanks, that's great advice.

I'd totally missed the ability to link a BT Sport account to Discovery+, but I've just gone through the BT link and done it now. And it seems that you get a better Discovery+ subscription included as part of the BT Sport/TNT Sport subscription than you get through SKY.

I've now logged out and back in again on Sky and it seems - fingers crossed - to have updated everything so that I can see everthing live on the TNT channels in the programme guide and watch on catch up through Discovery+.

Hopefully, that's everything set up for 26th....

@MCF888  Just remember that from Thursday you need to download the hbo max app and login with your discovery plus credentials to get the sport whilst the entertainment channels remain on discovery plus app

I've not read it but can be fairly sure that anything that is AI will not be accurate.

Re: TNT Sport migration to HBO Max

So if you have  already as part of Sky package you don't need to upgrade to activate HBO max basic with ads??

Re: TNT Sport migration to HBO Max

I'm a TNT customer via Sky and my existing Discovery+ login *doesn't* work in the new HBO app today, despite the Sky process saying it should. Help! Does it work for anybody else?
