TIDAL on Sky Stream

I'd like to know if there are any plans to include TIDAL among the apps available on Sky Stream. Thanks.

Hi @Josh_R ,

Thanks very much for your post, I've checked with the teams and for right now we don't have plans to bring TIDAL to Sky Stream but if there's more appetite for it on the forum we can share the feedback to the right people ✔️

Thanks,

@Josh_R

Hosting an app hosted on Sky hardware requires the app owner to enter a commercial relationship with Sky to cover the related support cost: in particular a share of call centre operations which isn't the case on other platforms.

Re: TIDAL on Sky Stream

@Josh_RTIDAL probably a bit niech as well.  Tends to be favoured by more of the audiophile crowd due to higher bitrates but overall have a tiny market share compared to the big players.  Likely isnt worth the bother for them to contract with Sky.

Re: TIDAL on Sky Stream

I would upvote a request for a tidal app, I am on sky Q and want to move off spotify and onto tidal as like many people who are doing the same I am sick of waiting around for high quality audio to be released on spotify and at a rumoured premium, when a tidal family account is both cheaper and better.

please bring tidal connect to sky

Re: TIDAL on Sky Stream

Adding myself too,

I have stopped using spotify now so will be using tidal from my phone to the hifi via Bluetooth instead of spotify on the sky box into hifi via tv.

would be nice to have Tidal on screen like I had with Spotify

Re: TIDAL on Sky Stream

Amazon Music has high quality HD streams up to 24-bit 192khz, which is available on Stream.

Re: TIDAL on Sky Stream

Ohhh I beg. I have been with Sky for over 10 years, last year I got sky glass and honestly I have to use my Xbox to get access to too many apps. Please bring Tidal to the sky app store, it would literally change my whole mind on getting rid of sky glass when my contract ends and going with a more accessible smart tv with sky box  additionally as I previously did, as Sky Glass is gaining more negatives for me than postives atm, the limitation with brightness oh my gosh, who wants a lighthouse glaring at them at 9pm!!

Sky Glass doesn't have an app store I'm afraid. Only Sky can add apps and it doesn't look likely that Tidal would be a priority for them.

Even in the USA where Tidal originates from, there isn't a Tidal app available on Comcast's Xumo Stream Box which runs on the same hardware and OS as Sky's Stream puck and Glass TV.

It's possible that the audio chipset used in Sky Glass is not fully compatible with the high-res audio requirements needed for Tidal.

@Lgg2 Bluetooth isn't capable of HiRes streaming. The only way you'll get HiRes music is through using a DAC and using wired headphones.

Re: TIDAL on Sky Stream

Amazon Music is on Sky Stream and offers music to much same if not better quality than Tidal does.

Both Tidal and Amazon Music are far superior to the likes of Spotify in the sound quality department.
