I've been with sky stream/ Glass for 2 years now. Want to switch back to sky q. Will hold onto sky glass tv but prefer sky q platform. The recording/ playlist issue with the glass is just to problematic. The wife is constantly complaining about it. Rang sky today and it's no problem to switch back to Q platform on glass TV they say, however they would have to cancel stream immediately over phone and I'd have to wait god knows how long to have engineer reinstall the Q. Obvious issue is i would be without any tv service in between!! Has anyone else encountered this please and any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

What you were told is correct. It's the only way Sky's systems allow the switch to Q from Stream to take effect.
They won't let you have both Q & Stream at the same time but you can't order Q until Stream is deactivated.
If you still have the Sky Q cabling in place from when you had Q before can they not just courier you a new box to install yourself?

The hdmi ports and apps on the tv should still work without a subscription
if you have an external aerial you could plug that in to the glass and watch free to view channels (you would need to cut the internet connection to glass for this to activate )
you could also add a firestick or other streaming device in the interim

If you need temporary access to Sky content you could subscribe to NOWTV🤔
You can cancel renewal with 7 days notice one month at a time😉
