Subtitles

I am hard of hearing and need subtitles. Since receiving my sky stream subtitles are very limited even on programs that usually have subtitles. It seems to be a waste of money for me.

In that case I'd suggest rebooting your stream puck by unplugging it for a couple of minutes as the subtitles are available and should work.

From my experience most shows seem to have subtitles.

don't forget that turning on the subtitles will differ depending on where the show is being streamed from. Can you give examples of the shows and apps were you aren't seeing subtitles?

The news channels certainly do I have just tested on BBc News and Sky News and can see the subtitles. When watching the lives channels the subtitles reset to the default setting when you change channel so you have to go and turn them back on for the channel you are watching. You press the ... button, scroll to subtitles, press select, highlight the language, press select again.

If you want to turn subtitles on as the default setting for the live channels, do it won't keep turning them off when you change the channel, you need to change this in the settings.

go to settings -> accessibility -> subtitles and switch to ON.

i don't believe this applies for subtitles settings within apps, so if you aren't watching emmerdale live on ITV 1 and you are watching it later on ITV X, you will need to turn the subtitles on separately within the ITV X app.

Re: Subtitles

Your experience is COMMON!  My partner (who is also hard of hearing) doesn't live with me, but he used to come visit me several times a week to watch a certain film or TV show.  But of course Sky Glass NEVER mentioned when I bought the  package, that NOT ALL programmes offering subtitles, would be available with my new expensive Sky Glass TV -- which I had to PURCHASE!  It has made a HUGE impact on our relationship -- because of course, Sky Glass TV also does not have a headphone socket!  So hard of hearing people MISS OUT!
Even when subtitles ARE available on Sky Glass -- it doesn't mean you will get them for the duration of the programme -- or e.g. if you have to "Pause" for a fews minutes -- or if it's saved on your Playlist.  In short, the subtitle facility on Sky Glass is VERY finicky.  It is one of the MANY problems with the "new" Sky Glass Internet TV -- which I believe was rolled out at least two years too soon!
