So im moving house soon and thinking of upgrading from sky q to sky stream. I like the idea of no dish and the slimline boxes. Also much easier to have it in multiple rooms.
As i understand it i can't record with sky stream. At present we record almost everything to watch at a later date so this is something I don't really want to lose. I also love that sky automatically records new seasons of things I've previously watched. I know I can add things to my playlist but will it stay on there when a season ends so when it starts again it appears. I also like that I can hit record if I see something advertised that I like the look of.
What are peoples opinions on both

If you like recording and the ability to watch what you want, when you want, with the ability to easily fast forward through the ads then Sky Q is still the way to go.
Sky Stream is controlled much more by the broadcasters. They can remove a programme from the on demand library at any time, with no warning for the customer. The playlist is not like a big hard drive of recordings in the cloud, it's merely a log of all currently available programmes to stream which broadcasters constantly update. You have no control over how long something may be available for.
A recording of a broadcast on a hard drive, which is what you currently do with Sky Q, is much more under your control.
Sky Stream is fine if you have a fast and stable broadband network and like browsing for something to watch from the many options available. But you are never guaranteed that something you've added to your playlist will be available when you want it. Also, streaming rights differ from broadcast rights so a movie shown on Channel 4 which you add to your playlist may only be available to stream at a later date from Disney+, but if you don't subscribe to Disney+ you won't be able to watch it. A Sky Q recording of the broadcast of that movie on Channel 4, will be on your hard drive until you decide to delete it.
