I recently had sky briadband and stream fitted and am having problems with the box glitching , stopping and having to start watching from the beginning, difficulty switching on at all. And shutting off to a blue screen or off completely. Any ideas?
thanks.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@Noel27 Are you connecting over wifi? This seems to be a wifi issue, open the netflix app and go to the settings menu, there is a speed test you can do
You need at least 25mbps for HD and 30mbps for UHD.

I have recently migrated to Sky Stream from SkyQ after my ancient satellite dish was damaged during a storm, and am really unimpressed. There are numerous issues with the Stream puck - like that it doesn't turn on from the remote, requiring the use of a fiddly button on the base, and then turns itself completely off again after any period of inactivity. Programmes added to the playlist are just bookmarks, and can't be played until they have buffered, which can take time, even with our 500mbps download speed. On occasions programmes on the playlist just completely refuse to play, with no indication as to the nature of the problem - just a black screen. Presumably they are no longer available? Who knows? I also have an Apple TV set top box, which doesn't suffer from any of these issues. All in all, and as someone who has been with Sky TV since it was set up, I am very disappointed with Sky Stream. If I could, I would ditch it, but I am saddled with an 18 month contract.

If you have gone through the standard network troubleshooting (ethernet instead of wifi, changing wifi channels, powerline adapters, etc, etc) and still can't get it to work then get in touch with Sky. Several people on here have been allowed to leave their 18 month contracts early without penalty because they couldn't get Stream to function with much stability.

Thanks for that. It's not so much that I can't get the box to work, it is just that there is too much "friction" in using it. As I said, I’ve an Apple TV sitting right beside the Sky Stream box, using the same WiFi connection, and it works perfectly. The comparison between it and the Sky box is stark. I should have paid more attention during the cooling off period!

Friction. That's a very good way of putting it. I found exactly the same. That's why I got rid of Stream and now use Apple TV boxes for all our TV streaming needs.
But seriously, if you find the Sky Stream service to be inadequate or not functioning as advertised then you should let Sky know. They are quite good at trying to resolve customer woes and if they can't they may well let you leave your contract early, as they've done with other customers.
The success of Sky Stream in a household does depend a lot not just on broadband quality but also on what a customer's expectations are, what other streaming hardware they have experience of, and whether or not they had a Sky TV service before. For many customers it's a revelation and has transformed their way of viewing for the better. For others it's a shock, with a steep learning curve, which some simply can't get to grips with.
