Sky stream without ultimate tv

Just bought a new sky stream with a puck and it says I can't use it without the ultimate package. I have the essentials package and don't want to spend any more money. I have forced restart, turned off and on, etc.

Hi @DavidTC1  Welcome to the world of Sky Stream, I know for a fact that you can have just the Essential Pack on Stream, as my Cousin has just that, it includes Sky Atlantic, Netflix and Discovery, 

I'm assuming you have it all connected as you say you have forced a restart, is this via the 'Settings'  'System Management'  then 'Resets and updates?

What are you actually seeing on the screen when you press the home button on the remote control? As whichever pack you have you will be able to watch the likes of BBC, ITV, and 4 and 5 Channels, by selecting the TV guide from the home screen!

Have you tried unplugging the Stream box from the electric socket for a few minutes, then plugging back in and allowing the unit to reboot, 

if you can give us more details about your set up, ie Connected via Ethernet or WiFi, and exactly what your seeing on the TV and hopefully we'll be able to give you some more advice,
