@Si99 they sometimes say on the actual cable... I've just looked at 2.1b and it seems like a higher bandwidth for 8k/60fps and 10k plus some extended HDR features

I have just bought the Sky stream and connected the Sonos Arc soundbar. All going well so far, great picture quality and sound. I did notice a little lip sync delay but not much but will keep an eye on it.
QQ: the only issue I have noticed is that when I pause Sky a buzzing noise comes from the Arc. I have the Stream sound to Digital plus. Anyone else experience this and figured out how to fix?

@David07 try changing the Audio Output to Pass through and you'll probably need to change your TV Arc output to pass through as well

Thanks @Nigelb1972 I selected passthrough on my TV & Streak box. It makes a small difference; the buzz noise was there all the time but when I changed to Passthrough it is only buzzing when I am on the main sky menu. I can't find a way to fix so I just mute until I choose what I'm watching. Very annoying! There must be a way to fix this

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@David07 If it is the actual puck that is buzzing I suggest you request a replacement from Sky. There are no moving parts in the puck so it is likely to be a failing component.

Thanks! I just called them and they are sending out a new puck

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@Si99 not all HDMI cables are created equally a lot of cables being sold carry false certification.
However for Stream you only need cables certified to 18Gb/s as according to Sky the bandwidth used is well below that figure. The full HDMI 2.1 standard does call for ports that support 48Gb/s but that is for much higher refresh rates than the max 60fps that Stream uses and 8K resolution and to give room for future developments. Cables labelled Premium High Speed with the hologram should support 18Gb/s as explained here https://www.hdmi.org/resource/cables who are the guys who set the standards.
Of course Ultra High Speed cables will work but they are over specified for the job assuming they actually do support the.speed they claim.

Hi @Chrisee thanks. Thats good to know. Is the HDMI cable that comes with the puck not a good spec? Sky have just agreed to replace the puck

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@David07 the cable that comes with the puck is unlabelled but supports up to 18Gb/s according to the limited info Sky have given. Certainly I have never had an issue with mine.
In the end a HDMI cable is carrying digital data hence the specs for cables give a certified minimum bandwidth but many can carry higher bitrates. A cable made from oxygen free copper with gold plated contacts will cost more but can't improve the picture or sound quality. It may have a higher maximum bandwidth but if the programming only needs 15Gb/s anything above that is a waste and will remain unused. Amazon basics seem a reliable brand

I hope to cancel my sky stream and will never come back to sky - I solved the lip sync by connecting puck soundbar tv, hdmi cable is ugreens latest, today trying to watch Eurosport's UHD coverage of French open and it's horrendous - the sound of ball hitting racquet is completely out of sync. I have tried pass through which previously was okay pcm Dolby etc but it's all out of sync - normal hd is okay. If they won't let me. Cancel during contract I'll see what consumer rights I have as not getting advertised uhd product and will not come back to sky.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@Si99 cancelling during the contract will result in penalty charges unless Sky wave them to do that and you need to to give them a reasonable chance to recitfy the issue. Before you can reject the service the law expects both sides to be reasonable. Therefore in the first instance raise a formal compkaint see How to make a Sky complaint | Sky Help | Sky.comIf you dont agree with Sky's response or 8 weeks has passed you can take the dispute to the independent Alternative Dispute Resolution provider.
If the fault is isolated to a broadcast by Eurosport then a better approsch maybe to report this to Sky's Viewer Relations team at viewerR@sky.uk who can take it up with the broadcaster as on occasions there are technical issues with broadcasts.

Im not sure if this is the exact same problem on rhis thread but I have found a fix for the buzzing noise between puck and Arc i thought i woild share here for orhers.
After much investigating incl. changing every setting on my LG TV, Soundbar and Sky stream box a lot of times, and getting on to Sonos and Sky support., it turns out a simple setting on the LG TV has completely stopped the buzzing noise.
Go to Settings, Sound, Advanced Settings, and down the bottom is 'eArc Support'. I had this turned on but when I turned it off the buzz stopped. The setting is only for 'reception frequency' and makes no difference to the sound. Problem solved!
LG OLED 65', Sonos Arc, Sky Stream

Be aware that by turning eARC Support off on an LG TV, you will not be able to pass uncompressed formats of audio from any other devices attached to your TV to your soundbar.
eARC stands for Enhanced Audio Return Channel and has a much higher bandwidth than regular ARC, therefore allowing better audio formats to be passed to an appropriate soundbar or AVR attached to a TV. There's quite a good description of the differences on the Sonos website here:
https://www.sonos.com/en-gb/blog/hdmi-arc-earc-compared
This may of course not be a problem for you as the type of DD+ Atmos which Sky Stream outputs is compressed and can be passed via a standard ARC connection. If you had a BluRay player attached to your TV however, with eARC turned off you wouldn't be able to pass the uncompressed audio from any BluRay disc to your soundbar as it requires the much greater bandwidth which eARC offers.

I have just bought a Sonos ultra arc and find sometimes when I turn on the tv I have no sound so have to go into the sound setting or the sync in totally out so have to turn the puck off and on again. Has anyone got any suggestions of how to stop this?
