I've noticed quite a bad bug in sky stream. Its very odd, because I can't see anyone else complaining about it. But it is quite obvious.
To recreate :
1. Power down sky stream at the plug.
2. Turn on sky sky stream so it boots from cold
3. Select a programme, Sky stream is working correctly with all programmes shown in standart 1080p50 (or 2160p50 if you have the higher resolution set)
4. Put stream into standby
5. Turn on sky stream from standby, it is now in 1080p60. So all programmes are now in in the wrong frame rate and juddering, by trying to play a 50hz programme at 60hz. You can't get it to play at 50hz again unless you reboot the sky stream.
It is so obvious that I find it bizarre nobody else is complaining about it. I've have two sky stream boxes connected to 2 different televisions and they both do it.
How do I report this as a bug?

We thought this may have been related to the previous software version, you should now all be on R21, can you confirm if there has been any improvement?
Thanks,
Yes @Chloe-W22 it appears to be fixed on QS21. My Stream puck now comes out of standby to 50Hz again. I needed to reset the output resolution first though by switching from 2160P to 1080i and then back to 2160P. It now stays in 50Hz.

It has been mentioned in another thread. The quicker workaround is to open an app then come out of it. It then reverts to 50fps (assuming you have judder reduction turned on for apps in settings).

Ah yes, thanks for the workaround tip.

Has Sky acknowledged this as a bug and committed to fixing?
Presumably most people are just watching the premium Sky content at the wrong frame rate?

I don't see recognition. The thread is about 4 pages ago and the workaround was suggested there but can't see any formal comments on it. It's really noticeable on the news channel tickers.

I am having the exact same issue. Exact.
I use a Samsung tv. Just wonder if it's a tv problem but tbh I think it is the puck

It's definitely the puck. It's only occurred since the latest firmware update. Opening Netflix or iplayer then going to live tv forces it back to 50 fps. Not ideal but works.

Happens when changing resolution as well. I tend to switch to 1080p as I find my TV does better upscaling of HD content. Doing that changes the output to 60hz as well, requiring the app workaround. Fingers crossed a fix isn't too far down the road.

im so glad someone else.has noticed this. I got a new LG TV a few weeks ago and soon as I plugged it in I noticed the picture movement seemed jittery and slightly sped up. It was driving me nuts and was going to actually return the TV!
Tonight I plugged the virgin stream box in and instantly everything looked back to normal.
The only downside now is that I have to use the virgin box which seems way less quality picture than the sky box until sky fix this.
How long has this been a problem for?

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@Tommyd1 I have not experienced this particular problem myself but many others have and say it started with the QS020 update.
Sky are fully aware of the issue and are hoping to release a solution in a forthcoming update.
Have a look at the following thread as there are a couple of posts with workarounds to use until the fix is released.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@e123312141 There have been reports of sky glass/stream picture judder, this may the reason why. I do know that a new software update has been released so TV's & pucks should get this in the next few days.

@GD1 who told you there's a fix coming? Someone in another thread spoke to sky today I think and was told that there's no time frame on a fix coming?
I'm not even using my sky stream box anymore because the problem makes watching everything unbearable, I've had to use my virgin stream box instead now.
Going to call sky at the weekend when I'm off work and try and get them to pause my subscription until it's fixed I think 😭

@GD1 aghh that's great news! I don't suppose there's anywhere that shows a history of previous updates?
Just so I can have a look back and try and figure out which update caused the problem. Although I guess it just have been the August update
