Sky Stream remote not controlling Bravia 8

I have recently got a Sony Bravia 8 tv which I am very pleased with, unfortunately a big downside is the Sky Strem remote does not work with it. The remote works fine with the sky stream but will not controll the power or volume of the TV. I have gone through the 32 (i think) plus 12 tests in setup but to no avail. I wish they had put HDMI control in the units, it works from with my Apple TV4K, power it up and the tv comes on at the right input, volume works perfectly. I did think it might happen with an OS update on either the TV or the Sky Stream but a few months on and no change. I am contemplating getting rid of the Sky Stream and using NOW TV on the Apple device, but I'd rather not. Any ideas how to get the Sky Stream remote to do what it should? Thanks in advance.

Hi @DarwenBill

Sky Stream supports CEC control. On my various TVs (Samsung, Sony and Hisense) pressing the home button on the remote turns on the TV as well as the puck. On some makes and models there are settings which have to be enabled on the HDMI ports to allow it to work. Also worth checking it's enabled on the puck too.

Re the remote. Usually the advice here would be to go though the various options to find one which works as usually, but as you have done this I've escalated your post to Sky. Someone will reach out via the chat bubble as outlined here: https://helpforum.sky.com/t5/Did-you-know/Escalating-a-post-to-a-Sky-expert/ba-p/3711147

Re: Sky Stream remote not controlling Bravia 8

Thank you @mikealanr I appreciate you taking the time to reply. I don't really understand CEC other than enabling whatever the particular TV brand has called it, Panasonic was Viera Connect, etc. Having the Apple TV working suggests the TV settings are correct, but I will check further in the Sony TV menu just in case. I did think the SkyTream remote was bluetooth and rather than CEC it uses the normal remote signal to control the TV. Thanks again for the reply and moving it up the chain. hoefully I get iot sorted and I will share it on here in case it can help anyone else.

Hi @DarwenBill

CEC is the ability for a device to wake the TV up (amung other things). See: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Consumer_Electronics_Control

You are correct the remote uses Bluetooth to the Puck. I think you are getting mixed up with IR? Which the remote also supports.

However Sky will reach out and hopefully able to do some diagnostics with you.
