I was told I could skip ads too as part of the package that I bought but that also doesn't work

@pagrate I'm not sure what you were advised by Sky or what your expectations are but Add Skipping will only work with catchup and Apps. Obviously it can't work on live broadcasts as this would be a physical impossibility.
Add Skipping does not mean no adverts it means you can skip (i.e. fast forward) through them. It would obviously help if the FF function worked better than it does but that's another matter. I fully agree that Add skipping is not very good and to essentially charge you extra to FF through the adverts is outrageous.

So it's not just me then! It's a bit disappointing, isn't it...

I wouldn't mind so much if the FF function worked better than it does 😠

@Exiled-in-HH the only issue with the others, Apple , Roku, Firestick etc, is they don't come close to Sky for the integration of terrestrial channels.
Having everything in one place, not having to switch to either freesat / freeview for terrestrial channels is such a big plus. Ive tried a few times with Apple TV / Now TV , but always come back to sky , or not fully cancel, for that one function alone.

That would be what the Freely app aims to do, at least for the PSB channels.
It's also anticipating a world where Freesat has ceased because the orbiting platforms aren't there any more, and Freeview spectrum has been clawed back by government.

@M3rk that might be reasonable argument if Sky Pucks were even adequate streaming devices!
It is so easy to switch to Freeview or Freesat on a good quality TV that having almost any other streaming device is far superior to Sky Stream... and you can record record on those good quality TVs.

@TimmyBGood that's an interesting read, if it works well that'll be me sorted.
@Exiled-in-HH i have a LG C1, perfect TV, with freesat connected, i changed the LNB over when i got stream, the sky UI is still better, more usable than the LGs, everything in one place ..... in my opinion obviously 🙂

@M3rk If it works for you and you're willing to pay so much for a UI you like so much ... that's your choice!
From other's reports Sky Pucks and the Stream services is a work in progress... and that work has had long enough to progress further...😉

👍 @Exiled-in-HH its what makes the world go round

Some are lucky ... Some are unlucky... It's expensive playing the Sky Stream Roulette game🤔

@Exiled-in-HH Tbh , i only pay the base £26 , which includes Netflix premium ( well thats the one we have chosen) so with Netflix now asking £17.99 if you went directly, am paying £8 for the privilege of sky stream, i dont mind that 👍
but do agree though, the hardware / software is not consistent, some have it ok , a lot dont , thats a bit pants.

I actually like most of the fetures of the sky stream when it works correctly. Frequent issues with watching sky content and live channels requires me to pull the power for a reboot, it works fine after that but its very annoying.
As others have mentioned, my biggest gripe with it is how the fast forwarding works. Any other streaming service (Youtube, Netflix, Apple TV) all have good quality fast forwarding, you can see the content and it isnt jumpy on the timeline. Sky Stream on the otherhand is extremely annoying to fast forward on. Even more so when you are paying £5 to be able to fast forward adverts....

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreI think the majority of the fast forwarding issues is due to the apps that is being used to fast forward on.
It sucks of ITV X but it still not too bad, it only takes about 10 seconds for it to fast forward a normal 3-4 minute ad break of that service. On the Channel 4 app it works pretty well. The worst is certainly where fast forwarding live content that you have joined late and started from the beginning. That can be clunky and the picture moves forward quicker than the skipping so when you press play again it actually goes back about 5 seconds from the picture you pressed play on. However this is to be expected from streaming technology and the way it works, and it will be different than fast forwarding from a hard drive.

I've had this useless unreliable frustrating streaming service since September.
I just wish I'd never bothered. It was miss-sold in the way that the play list operates. It is not an alternative to recording as I was led to believe.
I constantly have to turn the puck off to restart after the program freezes or refuses to load.
The streaming by wi-fi is very poor. I have 2 pucks and each are now connected by ethernet cables to prevent buffering
How can I cancel this poor excuse for a TV service?
