Sky Stream is a really poor product.

I have had Sky Stream for about six months. I moved from Virgin TV and it's the worst decision I ever made. I only moved from Virgin as I wanted the EE 1.6Gps broadband (which has been good) and you couldn't separate your TV and Broadband with Virgin. I'm just finally sick of Sky Stream - my wife gave up on it a few months ago, I have tried to persevere but I've reached my limit.

I realised it was a steaming product but I didn't realise the puck would switch itself off all the time, meaning were are loosing programmes even if we have left it paused for just 5 mins. I have gone through the limited settings and nothing helps. We have to keep moving the controller to stop it switching itself off. I have very fast reliable broadband from EE.

It also reverts to the home screen all the time - surely it's not beyond Sky's technology to have the choice of it coming on straight to the last TV channel without having to navigate through the arduous menu of Sky promoting its products.

When watching something and trying to fast forward or rewinding, it regularly crashes and we have to start again.

It is not our puck as we have another in the other room and it does the same thing - it is just a really poorly designed product.

I will be contacting sky in the new year in the hope that I can get out of the contract as it really isn't good enough to be paying the money I am paying for it. I would advise any potential customers to stay well away from it.

@paulmccarrison  It's unlikely you'll be let out of your contract, you were given 31 days cool off when you signed up.

Unless you've actually raised these issues on the past Sky won't knwo if you've had them.

Like you I'm a customer here, Sky Employees are clearly identified as such.

Sky will release you from your contract without any issues. Sight your disappointment and dissatisfaction with the product and they will release you out of the contract and penalty free. I am 99.99 percent sure of this.

It's a design choice to have that screen be the centre of the user interface: Q is the same.  Given this is specifically a Sky platform, promotion of Sky products is hardly surprising.

Hi

Yes I understand that but at the point you have already sold your soul to Sky, you might have hoped they would give you a choice of a simplified interface where you could start with your preferred channel rather than the arduous navigation through a menu to get there.

Thanks

Paul

@paulmccarrison You are not the first to ask but Sky have used a similar interface on Sky Q since 2016. My own work round is to navigate left from the landing tile where up to 8 of your last viewed channels or titles are there so quickly getting back to my regular channels. We can hope Sky change but I am not hokding my breath.
