Sky Stream apps

Hi

So currently using an old sky plus box in a room that for reasons health related I can no longer get to.  Thinking about cancelling sky plus as out of contract and moving to sky stream as I can just plug that into the tv in the lounge.   I know about skygo as I use that on my iPad when I don't have access to the main tv.

First question is can I use the other apps  like tnt sports or discovery plus on the iPad like sky go, or are they on skystream box only?  Netflix I know will let me use two devices as long as I have that package.

Second question is that it seems that I would have to phone sky and order stream and can't do it over the internet is that still the case?

Hope that makes sense!

Hi @Bremen246

Short answer is yes to both. You can access channels on Sky go as well as TNT on discovery plus on mobile and tablet as well as on the puck.

However you should do research about Sky Stream. It requires fast broadband as channels are delivered by it rather than satellite. So you need 30Mbps for the puck alone.

Also you need to be aware that it doesn't record in the same way as plus and Q and the channel line up is different.

This: https://www.sky.com/help/articles/sky-stream-faqs and this: https://www.sky.com/help/articles/tv-channel-list-sky-glass may help.

Yes, the tnt sports and discovery+ apps would allow you to view on the Sky Stream and also iPad via those iPad installed apps, just like you do for Netflix.

Yes, it's best to ring Sky to order Sky Stream. Seems when moving from a previous Sky TV service, the online method does not work.

You can call on 150 from a Sky Talk Line or Sky Mobile.

If you haven't got a current Sky Mobile or Sky Talk this link should help:
https://www.sky.com/help/home
Scroll down and click on ‘Need more help’ and it provides a 0333 number.
(ROI) on the same link change the flag in the very bottom corner to the ROI flag to obtain an 0818 number.

Stay on the line and don’t hang up if prompted to. A some of the quieter times to ring are early morning or late evening.

Re: Sky Stream apps

Hi

Thanks for that.

I'm assuming that if I can currently stream everything on sky go on my iPad and Netflix then that should be sufficient for sky stream?

Thanks.

Was just asking if my broadband would be good enough for sky stream if I could use the above ok.

The minimum required speed for Sky Stream is;

Recommended minimum broadband speed of 25Mbps.

Or 30Mbps if you add an extra Sky Stream puck or to watch in UHD.
