Sky Stream Setup Question

Sky Stream virgin here. I'm going to have a go at connecting my puck (is that the right term for the little black box?) shortly. Once it's connected to the power source do I need to let it initialise for a few minutes like I have to do with my HD+ box or is it useable immediately?

I've been reading other people's issues in the forum and I'm already stressing about it 🤣🤣🤣.

Thanks

Out of the box a puck is almost certainly going to need a software update, so won't be usable until that's completed.

Re: Sky Stream Setup Question

No streaming device is useable immediately .... they are compute device ... initialisation should be relatively fast out of Stand-by but longer if powered off🤔b

Once updated, a puck should initialise in a few seconds.

Thanks for that.

The puck is going to be fresh out of the box so it'll be its first time power up. I assume I'll see any changes or progress it's making on the tv screen.

Any idea of how long the start up/update process might take please?

Thanks

The initial update may be lengthy, and should be left to proceed in its own time.

I don't believe there's any on-screen indication of progress.

Thanks so much. I'm a bit of a stress head when it comes to this sort of thing, I'll try to be patient.

Apologies, but one last question - should I power off my HD+ box before I power up the puck?

There's no need to switch off the HD box.

Once Stream is activated, the satellite system will at some point receive an end-of-subscription message and cease working.
