The U app has launched replacing UKTV before today on stream you could watch ad free on demand and fast forward, etc
NOW Sky stream launches U app for the UKTV app you need to register and guess what now loaded with ads, even if you have ad skip which suddenly does not cover U apparently never did, except before today you could watch ad free.
In other bonkers sky stream over expensive ad shoveled service remember those sky pop up channels like Portrait artist of the year and sky sports classic that you can watch for free on top of your expensive subscription well noe they have been launched on Samsung TV totally free and into the EPG which is not even available until later in the year for paying stream customers.

While the U app has launched and this has adverts (a decision by UKTV as it's their app) some content is also available in TV Shows > scroll down to channels > U..
The content here is played back via the Sky interface and not the U app.

Re: Sky Stream NOW with more ADVERTS for U
So that will be because UKTV have chosen to launch the U app on the system, replacing the previous method they had for on-demand content on the sky platform. It would also be a UKTV decision to not currently be included in the ad-skipping functionality i would have thought.

That's temp measure due to the transition from uktv to u app the section that you can watch ad free through the u second will be phased out in coming weeks then it's no skip ads through U

Re: Sky Stream NOW with more ADVERTS for U
Really how do you know.? Given that there is content there for ITV and other platforms where Sky has had the app for a while...

I can't find the article now if I find the link I will post here it basically says that u is the replacement for the system used before which is to be phased out.

Re: Sky Stream NOW with more ADVERTS for U
Do wonder why the app is there.
All my current U stuff in my playlists across the U channels is still playing via Sky Stream, not using the app.
Just watched Classic Eastenders that cloud recorded the latest episodes today and played out in Sky Stream and not via the app.
But perhaps there is some other stuff that may be just via the app.
Sky Stream with two pucks (Former Sky Q and Sky+ customer), Sky Ultrafast + using Sky SR203 hub. Sky Protect kit tester.

It would also be a decision by Sky to not offer sufficient compensation🤔
