Sky Stream - Dead Remote
Changed over from Sky Q to Sky Stream 2 days ago. All worked fine (with a few hiccups along the way) but now my remote appears to be completely dead. It doesn't light up when I press any of the buttons.
Checked the batteries with a multimeter - they are fine. Tried two different sets anyway - no change.
Tried 7+9 to reset, nothing. Pressing 4+6 or 1+3 doesn't help. It just appears to have gone dead entirely. I have ordered a replacement but apparently it will take 3-5 days to arrive!
Does anyone have any ideas on how I can revive this thing? The Stream puck itself appears to be working fine. I have tried the reset process on that thing, and that worked. It's now stuck at the 'Continue' button but since my remote is dead, I can't do anything.
I have an old Sky Q remote lying around. Can that be paired with Stream? Any other alternatives?
Thanks for reading.

Re: Sky Stream - Dead Remote
I got my old SKY Q remote ( Model no EC201) to work with Sky Stream no problem. I believe model no EC202 also works, so if you have one of them lying about give it a go. I did is so both me and the other half could each have remote! :). Just follow the on screen instuctions for pairing. Good luck....

Re: Sky Stream - Dead Remote
@highr you can indeed pair your Sky Q remote with your stream puck. In fact as some of the batches of streaming remotes have been known to be quite dodgy, having a spare Sky Q remote is certainly handy.
In terms of trying to fix your Stream remote as well, there are a couple of things you can try.
You could try holding the remote at both ends and giving it a gentle twist as though you were wringing out a towel. It sounds a bit mad but a number of other community members have reported this works,
Another thing that may fix the streaming remote, it to remove the batteries for several hours and then putting them back in.
If none of these options work you can request a replacement remote via this link: https://www.sky.com/help/forms/streaming-tv-remote

Re: Sky Stream - Dead Remote
Thanks for the reply.
Hmm, the model I have is EC055, which sounds like a much older model. Any idea if that works at all?

Please see my other reply for the model I have - it may be quite old. Do you know if that might work?

Huh, how odd. I will try this, thanks 😊

Will try this too.

I have already requested a replacement.

Re: Sky Stream - Dead Remote
Can't belive that actually worked - thanks @MarkGoldsmith for the suggestion.
I tried the twist/wring method, that did nothing. But I then (gently) "bent" it and it sprang back to life. It was short-lived though, as it's gone dead again after a few hours of not using it.
And when it's working, the remote will not wake the puck from standby; the remote can turn the TV on and off with a long press and adjust volume just fine (I'm aware of the other long thread on this issue).
Overall quite disappointed really. My 6 or 7 year old Q box seems snappier than this thing. Oh, and Netflix refuses to stream anything. It gets to 20% loading and just stays there.
Really tempted to cancel and go back to Sky Q.
Also, my old Sky Q "touch" remote doesn't seem to want to work with Stream. So that's a no-go.

Re: Sky Stream - Dead Remote
@highr The twisting method has fixed my remote on 2 occasions even though it sounds an unlikely solution. Like you I have a 5+ year old Sky Q remote and I use it as a spare with my Stream.
In relation to your Netflix getting stuck on 20% This used to happen a lot about 6 months or more ago and I thought it had been resolved but obviously not. There are 2 ways that I know of that will generally clear the problem;
1 - Go to Netflix "Get Help" and select reload Netflix.
2 - Exit the Netflix App and load a live broadcast let it play for 2 or 3 seconds and then go back to Netflix and the programme you were trying to watch.
I note your comment about reverting to Sky Q. Sky Stream is certainly not for everyone so if you do decide to return make sure you do it within the 31 days cooling off period.
Good luck.
