Sky Sports UHD picture keeps stuttering

I don't know why Sky can't grow some and acknowledge that the issue lies with them and not the users.  Send out a firmware/software update or failing that, send out new hardware and take it out with the Puck manufacturer for not producing a piece of hardware that was fit for purpose.

I guess that's because it will cost Sky some money to upgrade/update - heaven forbid!

Although this is under the UHD thread, there are many issues that randomly occur that require poweroffs,

Despite them saying how the annual price increase is to improve service - it isn't!

Sky do occasionally phone me to remind me of VIP - I'm not going to drive 40 miles to a cinema to watch a film for free - they then ask me if I'd like to sign up to some deal which ultimately will cost me money if I forget to cancel. Money, money, money.

They don't make it very clear about when the contract is up - I phoned them yesterday and offered me a return to Sky Q - but with another 24 month contract so no thanks.

@NickJJ you are right. There are so many other issues that is making the Sky puck not fit for purpose. Sky at some stage, hopefully, will accept responsibility. We can only hope that they finally realise they will have to upgrade the puck to everyone, especially if they want new customers as well as ones moving from Q

Oh look, Sky Sports UHD Swansea v Wrexham is stuttering, pausing &  fast forwarding again. It's not my TV or Braodband Sky, so it has to be a hardware or software issue with the sky pucks. P.S. Netflix & BBC iplayer UHD programmes are perfectly fine.

@Gareth61 yes you are right. It's once again awful. Come on Sky, this is not good enough. Either fix it quicker with the other issues or refund us all as we not getting what we paying for.

I'm having the same issues myself, been working fine for a year and half and now all of sudden any UHD channels are buffering like mad and miles behind. All the other normal HD channels are fine.

Just watching Newcastle v Chelsea on TNT Sports UHD and it's a perfect picture and sound quality. So what is wrong with Sky Sports UHD? It can't be my broadband connection or my TV can it Sky? You've already convinced me to upgrade broadband speed to fix the Sky Sports UHD issue. Months on, and my new broadband speed has done nothing to fix Sky Sports UHD buffering issues. Can o have a refund Sky?

@Gareth61  You'e not talking to Sky, You won't get an answer from Sky, S'y won't refund you anything as your subs cover more then one channel.  Sky don't evenm know who you are from a community post!

If you feel Sky owe you anything for the issues speak to them, but you can't expect a full refund, that just won't happen and is unrealistic, at best it should be pro rata so effectively a few pence for a few hours disruption should be maximum they refund.

If TNT Sport UHD is okay and I have noticed Sky Sports UHD is okay when less popular sports are on in the day, it suggests that the primary problem is not the puck, but with the way Sky Sports UHD is distributed in the network during periods of high demand.  There may be a secondary problem with the puck in that it struggles to buffer and clean up a poor quality stream (which can be alleviated somewhat, but not entirely, by restarting the puck to clear cache etc. and setting the sound to passthrough).

So, I have now cancelled my Sky Sports subscription and also UHD. Channel upgrade with Sky. 

There's a deal on NOWTV for sky sports for 6 months for £28. I've taken that and also UHD upgrade. I run NOWTV app from my LG TV and no issue at all. Football and darts both smooth as silk.....

fact - the SKY PUCK is the problem.

The only thing I would have suggested is to subscribe to Now TV at full price for 1 month and then cancel.... you might have secured a better deal then. 

So far,  I have had no issues with Now TV and to be fair I didn't when I had Stream, and wonder if it has been a recent update issues. Nevertheless, one of the beauties of not being tied to a single piece of hardware (e.g. Sky Puck) you can watch Now TV on any compatible streaming device.

11 minutes into the game on 922, stuttering is awful. Sky should be embarrassed that the puck is poor and the state of the service that is being provided

 It will all get fixed by 2030!

I am also having issues with Sky Stream when watching UHD programmes. The stream is jerky, slows down then speeds up. I'm connected via an ethernet cable using Sky Full Fibre 500 and when I run a speed test on my PC also connected via ethernet the speeds should easily be good enough to stream without issue.

It would be good to get an official answer from Sky on this issue, as it seems to be affecting many people.

It's doing it on the Tottenham v Liverpool match on 501 Sky Sports UHD tonight.
