Hi All,
Please can someone clear this up for me as I've heard different things from different people.
Recently the series link failed for F1 and I was unable to watch the race until many hours later when it was added to on demand. A stream user has told me they were able to watch it from the start before the race had even ended. Is that correct about Sky Stream?
If not how quickly is F1 added to Stream after it has aired? For example this weeks race is 6am, would it be available by 9am?
Thanks in advance!

Hi @stejo
You can set it from the EPG and it will be available for playback as a cloud recording. If you don't do this or don't select watch from start then you need to wait for it to be made available by the broadcaster (in this case Sky sports). This can vary.
If you record a lot it might be worth staying with Q as Stream systems is reliant on multiple parties for things to work (i.e. you cannot cloud record BBC, ITV etc and the playlist is simply a bookmark to their app), but if you tend to binge watch TV there are benefits over Q. You also need strong and stable broadband of 25Mbps for HD and 30Mbps for UHD as content is delivered via the internet not satellite dish.
Make sure you do some research, checkout youtube videos etc too.

Re: SKY F1 - Q vs Stream
@mikealanr many thanks!
Very interesting that if you add it then it is available. Makes you wonder why Sky can't make the streams available sooner!
Good to know about BBC and ITV. I hate the ITV player app, the quality is shocking!

It takes a bit of getting used to but it does work. Just not as reliably as a recording on a hard drive.
The ITVX app is a bit slow and rubbish but the picture quality is usually good. It's much better if you pay for ITVX Premium so that it removes the ads from on demand programmes.

Re: SKY F1 - Q vs Stream
Is there a way to pick a specific channel to record? Such as because it's on main event it seems to favour that one rather than sky sports f1. The only reason I ask is main event is currently broadcasting the f1 in upscaled 1080p with hdr whereas sky sports f1 is broadcasting in UHD hdr?

Did you select the specific F1 event from F1 channel on the EPG?

Re: SKY F1 - Q vs Stream
F1 is pretty much impossible to watch on Sky Stream unless you watch live. It either doesn't appear until a day later to watch or you try to watch from start on a program and it fails, it's a heap of garbage! Today I've gone to watch the Quali from the start and I get a technical error.

Re: SKY F1 - Q vs Stream
Yep did that it just always seems to prioritise main event channel for some reason.

Re: SKY F1 - Q vs Stream
Why do Sky take ondemand from Main Event the showcasing channel rather than the primary sport's channel🤔

Re: SKY F1 - Q vs Stream
There are big issues with the watch from start. I raised it in another post as the watch from start was very random and varied from day to day, even on the same event on different days (i.e Tennis). They seemed to have fixed this issue but this weekend the watch from start again is random. Very frutstrating how they can fix something, put a new update in and it breaks again. It basically means you have to watch it live as you risk having to wait hours to watch a recording. From some testing, it seems like if there is a watch from start available, then the cloud recording is available on the playlist, if there isn't, we'll be waiting a few hours. Not good enough really as it wasn't like this a few months ago.

Re: SKY F1 - Q vs Stream
I was under the impression that if you didn't record it you could only access the highlights?! That's what it seemed like to me, like you'd say to the box formula 1 and it being up the latest race and all would be on there is ted notebooks and the schedule for when it's next being replayed? Maybe I'm missing something here.

Re: SKY F1 - Q vs Stream
@Lasvegas I answered on your other post just now but as long as you add it to your playlist before the event it will cloud record the full session to watch back as if it's live.
Consider liking this post if it was helpful, or mark as an answer if it solved it for you.
