Removing child profiles from BBC iPlayer

My child has created multiple BBC iPlayer profiles on his great grandmother's sky stream puck. I can't remove them from the TV as there isn't an option to do that, and I can't remove them on the phone version of iPlayer as it says there are no child profiles to delete. She's struggling to cope with choosing the right profile, so isn't able to watch her usual programmes. Any ideas? Thanks

Re: Removing child profiles from BBC iPlayer

Thanks but when I go there it says there are no child profiles to delete. It looks like they are stored locally in the puck so iPlayer on the web doesn't know anything about them.

They are not stored on the puck, they are stored under presumably the great grandmother's BBC account which was logged into the BBC iPlayer app on her Stream puck. You need to log in to the BBC website with her BBC account details and you will then be able to delete the child profiles.

Re: Removing child profiles from BBC iPlayer

Thanks but we've done that. Her BBC account says there are no child profiles to delete. But they're obviously there on the TV. We don't get the option to remove or edit them on the TV though. We just get a QR code link to the website. Where it says there aren't any.

Re: Removing child profiles from BBC iPlayer

I suspect that there maybe more than one BBC account.

The way the app and website works it's quite easy to make multiple BBC accounts, maybe there a support option available and they (BBC) can sort it out for you

Taken from the BBC iPlayer online help FAQ;

You'll need to do this on a browser.

  1. Go to your BBC account settings
  2. Click into the Children's settings tab from the menu on the left-hand side
  3. Click on Delete child profiles
  4. Select the child profile you want to delete
  5. Click the Delete button to confirm

When using the iPlayer TV app after removing a child profile, the profile may still show. Selecting the profile will refresh the account and it will be removed.

If you are  still having an issue after doing the above, you will need to contact the BBC iPlayer support team;

Hi @SomeDisplayName

Just to add on top of the advice provided by @lettice - if you open iPlayer on Sky stream and then go to the child profiles, there is a mange account button, clicking this will take you to a screen with a QR code where you can manage the account as per above.
