Re: Audio lip sync problems

Does any one have any advice regarding the lip sync issue. It is almost impossible to watch and severity varies from channel to channel and time of day. Do I really have to endure this until my contract ends? Seems a bit unfair to have to pay for something that's below par and be without any form of redress

Re: Lip sync problems with puck

Hello again. Thanks @Padam_Padam. I was glad to quickly read the reply you gave to me earlier this morning but when I when back on to view it and read the help you offered I find that I am barred from seeing it. Do Sky delete things they don't approve of?

Yes, Sky will remove posts they feel have broken the T's & C's of the forum, which in this case, they did.

@IanWhite

A temp fix would be to switch the audio settings to stereo in the main settings ... this is setup as standard as auto

Re: Lip sync problems with puck

If you have a soundbar and TV that supports eARC, connecting everything correctly should resolve this issue.

You shouldn't get sync issues if just using the TV speakers unless they're acting as a separate speaker system.

The delays get introduced as various bits of your a/v kit are trying to decode various bits of data and Bluetooth or wireless connections are the worst for this because there will be an inherent delay due to wireless transfer speeds of the audio

Re: Lip sync problems with puck

Thanks for that information. I have a Sonos beam and play ones as rear surround speakers. The bar is connected by eARC hdmi to the tv . As far as I'm aware it's connected correctly . Can you account for the variation in lip sync between channels and even within a channel transmission?

Try swapping the hdmi cables for newer high frequency ones

Re: Lip sync problems with puck

@IanWhite part of the eARC protocols is that it keeps the audio in sync but if the rears are connected wirelessly, these could be the ones that fall out of sync.

Personally, me hearing is a bit poop in one ear so I use my soundbar for the clearer sound and bass rather than surround sound and eARC keeps it all in check

Hey all,

Thank you for joining the Community Forum and let us know about the lip sync problem on the Sky Stream.

Our Specialist Team is looking into it, and we would appreciate if you could provide us more information.

It would be a big help if you could provide us the following details:

  • your TV's brand and model
  • how often does the lip sync issue happen
  • when did it happen last time
  • what content were you watching
  • exact time stamp when it happened would help a lot

Thanks,

It's basically at any time on any app or live channel stream. It can be in any audio format, stereo, 5.1 or Atmos, with audio output set to Stereo, DD or DD+.
My last instance was last night at around 10.15pm,  switching from a 5.1 Netflix stream (more or less in sync) to the BBC1 live channel stream in stereo (about 1 second out of sync).
I've tested this extensively over the past few months on a Panasonic JZ1500, Samsung RU8000 and LG UR78 TVs with similarly unpredictable results on all three, whether connected directly to the TV or using ARC or eARC to a Denon AVR. Lip sync varies on a daily/hourly basis. There is no stability.
I experience no lip sync errors when using and switching between apps on a Firestick 4K or an Apple TV 4K box, therefore I conclude that the Sky Stream puck is just simply no good at maintaining a stable a/v sync.

Re: Sky stream lip sync

I had this issue particularly on uhd sport but I seem to have solved it by changing my set up

Set sound to pass through in sky stream setting , connected  the puck into my soundbar hdmi in port  then arc out of soundbar to tv . this meant sound processed by soundbar first sending picture signal to tv. I also ensured humid cables are latest "ultra high speed"

Sky pick stream audio being delayed

When I'm watching tv channels and movies the audio isn't matching up with the actors/actresses mouth movements,

I have tried turning my puck off and on also tried factory resetting it but still running into the same problem!.

I've also turned and reset my wifi router but still no luck, any help with this would be much appreciated thank you.
