QLED or MINI LED for Sky Stream?

I am about to upgrade my TV from my Toshiba LED. Unfortunately, I don't think I can stretch to an OLED. What are members' experiences using a QLED or MINI LED TV with Stream and which ones would you recommend?

Re: QLED or MINI LED for Sky Stream?

After some concerns about screen burn (raised on another forum) I decided to go for a Phillips Mini LED and I am delighted with the results. Sparklingly clear pictures on everything, like night and day compared to my old Toshiba LED. Watching The Newsroom was like watching a different show. Such a  beautifully clear picture with lovely dark blacks. So far, I am very happy to have gone down this road.

You should go and audition a few different types of panel in a shop if you can. Different makes and models use different operating systems and offer more versatile connection options. Sky Stream doesn't care what kind of TV technology it's attached to, be it LCD, OLED, QLED or miniLED, it's all about how you want an image to look and the only way to find out if you like the picture quality and options available on a TV is to try some out.

@Carnoch04 It would be OLED for me, Stream looks stunning on my LG G2 OLED👍

Agreed. Once you've had an OLED you can't really go back to any other TV technology. It makes most things look stunning. Even Freeview HD from my OLED's internal tuner actually looks better than the equivalent channels from my Stream puck!

I am sure you are right but that is around £500 more than my budget!

I like my LG QNED.... it's really funny LG used the term before Samsung could use it😉

Pay back by LG for Samsung using QLED🤔

We've got a Samsung QLED and the quality is excellent with Sky Stream. Make sure whatever TV you get supports HLG and HDR10 at least with Dolby Vision being an added bonus, HDMI 2.1 and eARC if you're using soundbar.

Make sure the soundbar also supports Atmos, HDMI 2.1 and eARC. Atmos for the brilliant sound and HDMI 2.1 and eARC to avoid sound sync issues.

We've recently upgraded from a Sony KDL-50W755C to a Samsung S95C 55" (way outside the OPs budget I know) and the difference from almost any source is just stunning. I'm working on the wife so I can hopefully add a Samsung Q800C soundbar 🙂

Thank you for that. I have a soundbar that fits all these specs already so that is fine. I will do some more research. Cheers!

@Carnoch04 Make sure it also supports Dolby Vision, Samsung doesn't while LG supports all three.

Thank you. I am verging towards waiting a few months and just going straight to OLED.

I am now edging towards the LG OLED B3 65". It looks like the best bet if I hang on a month or two.

Have I not seen recent threads about LG hdmi port or mainboard issues with Sky boxes?

If we're playing 'my OLED's better than yours' then I can heartily recommend Panasonic's award winning range, particularly if picture quality is your top priority.
The one I have produces a sublime image & has all flavours of HDR: HLG, HDR10, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision.

What apps are.available on Panasonic TVs?

Do they support both the Freeview and Freesat EPGs, and permit recording from either?
