Just set up my Sky puck and it takes 3 mins to start each morning. I have set it to stay connected to the network while in standby and set the sleep to never. There is no option for power saving in settings, I am in UK how can I get a faster start up?

OK problem solved, it was the tv waiting for an input. As I was changing from virgin media to sky I still had the VM box connected to HDMI 1 and conected the Sky puck to HDMI 2, on morning switch on the TV sat waiting for an input from the VM box which was switched off. After 5 mins the tv looked at other inputs and found HDMI 2 which then started up the sky. I have now removed the VM box and connected the sky puck to HDMI 1 and start up is very quick 5 to 10 seconds. Thanks for your help.

Hi @Edshaz it shouldn't take that long, they tend to only take about 20 seconds to come to life. You could try fixing by pulling the plug out of the socket for 30 seconds and then putting back in again to see if that makes a difference.

Re: Puck start up
The puck when it's in its standby ovenight or if it has been in standby for a more than half hour when it goes into a slightly deeper standby mode, normally powers up within 3-5 seconds.
From a regular puck standby, not the mode above, it powers up in about a second.
There used to be on ovenight power saving on/off toggle, but Sky recently removed that.
Are your sure it's not your TV that the puck is connected to that is taking longer to start up itself from ovenight to power up initially and thus make the change over to the correct source your puck is on with CEC.

Re: Puck start up
Hi @Edshaz and welcome to the forum. If you turn the puck off entirely it will take about 3 minutes to reboot but if it is just turned off to standby mine only takes 10 seconds. Do not switch it off at the wall or by using the switch on the bottom of the puck, just use the power button on the remote to put it into standby.

Re: Puck start up
I only switch it off using the remote never at the wall or the puck itself.

Re: Puck start up
It could be that, I get a blue screen with a message at the bottom right saying please wait will have to see if that's the tv or the puck will investigate.

Re: Puck start up
@Edshaz I thought that would probably be the case but it was worth checking. It is certainly strange that it is taking so long to boot.
When you turn it on, after about a minute do you see a white Sky logo on the screen followed a minute or so later by a coloured line and then the home screen? If so the puck is fully rebooting each time. If not then try giving it a reboot as this can clear system glitches. (Settings > System Management > resets & updates > restart device).

Re: Puck start up
Well it did start up quick but only once it's now back to very slow. I have tried all recommendations ie keeping it connected to network overnight etc but no luck. Have removed my old virgin box and connected Sky puck to HDMI 1 the only other HDMI used is my Samsung sound bar. There is no option for overnight power saving in the settings menu. I have tried long press to turn off tv and puck at night, powering off the puck at the wall for at least 30mins, just turning off the tv and the puck by their own controllers nothing solves the slow start up any ideas on what else to try!

Reposting this as the puck started quick only once but its back to a blue screen saying please wait and taking 3 to 5 mins to start every day, I have tried resets and the setting to stay connected to network is on.

Re: Puck start up
Try pressing the home button. That usually clears it.

Re: Puck start up
Well as usual I got the blue screen with please wait this morning and as you suggested I pushed the home button the puck sprang to life straight away. Will continue to check over the next few days just to make sure it's not a one off. Thanks for your suggested fix, now if anyone can make the puck go straight to home screen instead of this blue please wait annoyance or maybe change the text to "please ignore me"

Re: Puck start up
I had exactly the same problem on both of my Pucks about two weeks ago after a firmware update.
I tried many things to resolve this but in end the thing that finally cured it was to perform a factory reset from the "Settings" menu.
Be aware that you will need to enter all your account details again, just as if it was a new Puck out of the box.
