Programmes stop part way through and can't be restarted

Since getting Sky Stream last month I have had several issues which I put down to Ethernet cables and/or WiFi. I have spent considerable time on self diagnosis and sourced a new router and finally thought that all the issues were sorted. But NO....
We found an episode of Diagnosis Murder on Great!TV. A fairly obscure channel with no On Demand type option.
As the programme was about 15 minutes into its 1 hour we selected the View From Start option.
At the 45 minute mark (just getting the interesting bit!!) the programme shut down "Wait for your programme to load". But nothing happened. By the time we rebooted etc the (live) programme had finished so there was no "from start" option to select.
I discussed this with a Sky representative and was told that this is the expected behaviour. Because the live program has finished then the Sky server has nothing to transmit.
Apparently SkyQ has this "from start" function and uses its hard drive to download the programme so that you are viewing a local copy. With Sky Stream there is not local (or remote) storage for the programme, so transmission ends when the live rpgramme finshes.
As a result I have cancelled my Sky Stream contract and am goin to SkyQ (there are no other options in my location, else I might just have gone elsewhere)
