Problems watching Road Wars and linear broadcasts

Is anyone else finding it frustrating when wtaching "Road Wars" and other simialr "linear broadcasts" I have noticed that when watching Road Wars series 1 episode 1 it has added in 30 minutes or more at the end of each episode of "highway cops" i reported this issue to Sky viewer relations as customer services advised me and they said that there is no fault and that its meant to contain part of another programme, surely this cant be true ? as it makes viewing programmes very complicated as i have to fast forward over 30 mins of a seperate TV series.

i was told "Road Wars is not available On Demand. It is only available as a linear broadcast. So, when you add it to your playlist it s cloud storing the linear broadcast for your to watch later. Similar to a recording on older Sky platforms. This is why it includes some of the follow on content from the next show in the schedule. Again, not a fault but working as intended."

Can ynyone advise further on this ? as it appears they are saying this is mena to do this, buts urely you shouldnt have other TV shows added in with programmes on your palyslist, for example if I have eastenders on my Playlist and play it, it will just play Eastenders then the next episode it wont have other programmes mixed in with it. If this is working as "intended" then surely Sky need toc hange thsi as there is clearly the technology to do so.

For recordings that have come from a linear channel, yup i've seen it quite often the recording is longer than it should because i suspect the default behaviour is that it adds padding to a recording to ensure if the programming starts late or overruns, it is all captured. The reason you won't see this on most shows, is because most content won't be cloud recorded and instead you will get a playback from a third party app ( which is what it does for the BBC broadcast of EastEnders , playback will always be through iPlayer) or from Sky's on-demand library, if they content it available there.

It's the same as recording from Q or any PVR. You add padding to make sure you record the whole show. When I was with BTTV the Youview boxes used didn't have the ability to add padding, hence there were numerous complaints about missing the end of shows or events on a regular basis. With on demand material this is avoided, you can't have it both ways.

Whilst this is true, it shouldn't be recording an extra 30 minutes as the OP states.

Conversley if the item started 35 minutes late due to breaking news etc., you would lose the last 5 minutes of  the recording. I know it's unlikely but if it did happen the OP would be complaining he missed the end.

@Hunter2660 that's definitely not the issue here, it's either loads of the episodes. As mentioned Road Wars is 57 mins but when I watch it through instals each episode is 1 hour and 27 mins and mixed with another programme at the end. Please see picture.

@Hunter2660  Yes totally get you can have it both ways and that's not what I want, what I'm saying is that as I'm sure you can agree, you should not have 30 mins of a separate broadcast added to a different episode, it makes it confusing when watching and also means that you have to fast forward through it as it won't just seemlesley go to the next episode.

UPDATE ive received an email this morning from Sky viewer relations and theyve told me that Im the only person being affected by this issue with Road Wars being 1 hour and 27 mins on Sky Stream, id be most grateful if anyone could please confirm this ?

But as it's generally a recording, as it is with a PVR, then it will record the last part of the previous programme and the beginning part of the following programme in the 1 hour 27 minutes timescale. Perhaps Sky should just follow the scheduled time slot in future, in which I can pretty much guarantee you'll be back complaining you missed the end of the programme, or part of the beginning.

@Hunter2660  no, I wouldnt be "back complaining" as you can "gurantee" so I would certainly suggest you should get your facts right.  It is quite reasonable to bring this up as an issue, road wars is not a 1 hour and 27 mins timescale as well. I have stated quite simply as someone else has pointed out that it is  NOT meant to show it for 1 hour and 27 mins , that is not the time of the show, it is 1 hour i.e 60 minutes so if one episode is 58 minutes then I do not mind having two minutes of something else, simply rather just around an hour. As I have also mentioned Sky viewer relations team told me that it they belive it is just me experiencing the issue, plaese see below. Sky are saying that it is  not 1 hour and 27 mins when you watch through playlist, hence I was interested if other people have this issue, it clearly can be reoslved.

Ever since we have had stream any program that we view from skys servers ie: not on demand or live, has padding after the show we are watching. To skip this quick all you need to  do is press right buttton to start ff then press again and hold and it ff's by minutes not seconds.

I have found that if you don't skip this extra padding the continue watching rail won't show you the next episode as it thinks you still have potentially 30 mins still to watch.
