I have a Cambridge Audio CXA81 Amplifier, Dali Oberon 7 Floorstanding speakers and a CXN V2 Network Player. On my old Sky Q box, I used to be able to plug the Digital Optical Cable straight into the box, with Sky Stream there is now no option for this, so I'm having to plug this directly into the TV. I'm plugging the HDMI from the Sky Stream puck, also directly into the TV. Here's where my problem lies. I'm unsure of my specific TV Model number, but it is and LG capable of UHD; albeit it is rather dated, it isn't a Smart TV.
When on 1080p, the sound is fine - it comes through the speakers as it should with no issues. However, as soon as I upgrade the screen picture (through Sky settings) to UHD (2160p), the sound stops completely. I can get sound by selecting the PCM Stereo option, but it is so awful that I switch back to 1080p.
What's the workaround here? How can I get UHD while also still having my speakers working as intended, as they used to when I had Sky Q? My leading theory is an HDMI Audio Extractor, though I'm unsure if this would fix the issue?

It could be a number of things but is most likely to be related to your non-smart TV's inability to convert or pass through the audio to a format your stereo amplifier likes. How is the TV connected to the amplifier? Toslink?
Your amp is not an A/V amp and appears to not be Dolby Digital certified, so PCM should be your better option.
It could also be a bandwidth issue relating to UHD. Are you using the HDMI cable supplied with the Stream puck? If not, are you using a high speed cable of less than 3 metres in length?
If all else fails then yes, an HDMI audio extractor should work. A box which takes the UHD output of the puck, passes the video through to your TV and converts the audio to an optical output that you can send to your amp via an optical cable.
