New sky stream remote not working

I've had sky installed today, the remote doesn't work for volume or voice control. I've tried pairing the remote several times and nearly took my hand off changing the batteries . I'm sure it worked for an hr then stopped  now I'm doubting myself. Any help appreciated

Thanks. I've done a factory reset and it seems to be working now 😀
