I've done all the usual stuff, reset the router, reset the puck etc.
seems to connect for a few seconds then disconnects.
all other devices are working normally on router/wifi.
i am getting sky broadband, but not for another week.
any advice?

I called Sky support, turns out the issue was my TP Link wi-fi signal extender interrupting the signal.
As soon as i switched that off, things were fine.

Even as a Sky Broadband customer my puck was showing as connected to the router, but no internet.
After reading your post I went and turned the power off to my TP Link range extender and the signal instantly came back on my Puck.
