The sky puck remote made a loud 'POP' noise and shut off our puck. We have tried switching it back on, but the screen is frozen and the remote does not work.
We have tried 'resetting' the remote by pressing 4 + 6 and on pressing 1 + 3, it shuts off the puck.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@Angela60 There have been a number of posts reporting that the remotes have "exploded" in the past. I would simply request a replacement at the following link: Streaming TV replacement remote
If you have one available you can use a Sky Q remote while you wait for a replacement.

Sky need to implement a remote app... so customers can continue using their Pucks while a replacement remote is being delivered🤔

I just wish Sky would solve the actual remote problem in the first place. In all my years of having Sky products I have never known such a high level of issues with what should be a simple remote control. Look at the Amazon Firestick remotes - they are similar mass-produced voice controlled Bluetooth devices, but they seem to function remarkably well. I've had two of them for roughly 5 years without a single issue. The batteries last for an eternity too! I'm on my third Sky Stream remote in less than a year. They're really poor.

Bizarrely i've had the opposite, nothing but issues with my firestick remotes and then burning through the batteries really quickly. I gave up on the remote and use the mobile app instead for my fire stick. Also had zero issues with my Sky Stream remote in 3 months so far, still on the first set on batteries they provided with it.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@MarkGoldsmith As with a lot of things related to Glass/Stream, different users seem to have different experiences. My Original Glass remote chewed through batteries and Sky ended up replacing it for me. The replacement failed on me twice but I was able to resurrect it using the twist method on both occasions. In early December I moved from Glass to Stream and so far I have not had any issues with the stream remote and I am still using the same batteries 😀
I have both a firestick and Apple TV and have not had any problems with the remotes other than they are both too small and fiddly.

TV remotes are getting smaller and buttonless. Samsung have taken it too far, while LG magic remotes are excellent😉
The Puck remotes are reasonable apart from the failure rate🤔

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@Exiled-in-HH My Samsung came with 2 remotes. One is a normal size with loads of buttons and the other is very small with hardly anything on it and it even has a miniature solar panel built in to keep it charged. The only problem it it's to small so it never gets used. I agree with you that the stream puck is an ideal size, it would just be good it they were more reliable.

I too quite like the size and feel of the Stream remote in the hand, but the reliability is woeful.
I've actually grown to love the small metal Siri Remote that comes with the Apple TV 4K box. It's small but perfectly formed and the lack of buttons is a joy. We don't really watch live TV any more so don't need the number buttons, and the Siri voice button on the side is easy to find without looking, oh and (unlike Stream) actually understands my voice! It's also rechargeable via USB-C so no batteries to worry about, and a single charge seems to last about a year!
