I have had sky stream for a week now. I have 2 pucks. Both are a nightmare when connecting to the tv and internet. The puck in my lounge never connects when I switch it on. I have to go through the process of rebooting the broadband connection. It doesn't work via the button on the broadband and I have to connect it by putting the router password in manually. Once in it's up and running. The puck only connects when it's balanced on the corner of the tv. Any where else it doesn't connect. Finally on this puck the programs on live tv start to buffer after a short while of operation. But on the streaming services it doesn't.
My second puck has different issues. It has been connecting when switched on. But then it started to be unable to get onto live tv and only streaming works. Then this evening I have switched the tv on and it has gone to a black screen.
To summarise this is the worse experience I have ever had since I have had sky tv. Worthy of note. The router is about 4 metres from the loung tv and 2 metres from my dining room tv. The router is in the garage.
can someone give me some feedback

As @Jporch316 says the router location is not the best. These pucks operate best hardwired with ethernet. My router is in the same room and it needs to be hardwired.
My Glass TV in a spare bedroom won't work off WiFi but is fine hardwired.
You'll find a whole new experience if you can cable them.

If you can't hardwire give Sky a call they may not be right for you. Q may be a better option. Talk it through with them.

Thanks for your thoughts. Sky fitted the router in the garage. It's fibre super fast I think. The garage is breeze block construction no brickwork or insulation. Never had a problem with Sky Q.
I have other accessories which work fine throughout the house. Hard wiring could be an issue because I have no spare ports at the back of the router.

You are right most other home products don't have issues with WiFi but the pucks really struggle.
You could use power socket extensions.

Thanks for responding further. I will sort out a hardwire tomorrow in the lounge and see if that improves matters.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@Bandoman you can improve stability of the connection by going into the pucks settings for Start up and Standby deselect power saving and select Stay networked in standby.
A garage is a very odd place to install a router. If the router is connected to a standard phone socket then Sky should relocate the master phone socket although they may want paying to do this if you moan enough that is likely to be waved. If the router connects to an Openreach ONT box - a powered unit with led lights - the connection uses an ethernet ccable so you don not need the router close to the ONT so if running ethernet bring the router into your house.

Thanks for your comment. I had already carried out the first thing you suggested.
I will look at the position of the router in the garage if all else fails.
thanks

Hi again everyone. After our previous discussions I now have 2 functional pucks. My only issue is the buffering of programs when watching terrestrial tv. If I watch them on iPlayer or ITVX. No issue.
anybody any thoughts or advice
thanks

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreCan you go into the Netflix app go into settings and run the network test
this will tell us the speed of connection that your units are getting

I have run the test and the speed is 110 mbps. Is that ok. As I said earlier can stream ITVX without buffering but itv on terrestrial starts to buffer after watching for a while.
