Looping advert every 60 seconds

This started happening to me this morning the same 3 adverts. Wasn't doing it last night. I signed out of someone's account on bbc.iplayer as I dont use it. 

Now I dislike the bbc even more.. 

I refreshed apps in settings  and so far it seems to have worked.

Thank you, I haven't got back iplayer so have never signed into it, but what I did do was update the apps on settings and so far it hasn't happened since, it absolutely broke me lol first time it's ever happened and I pray it don't happen again enough to send anyone nutty 🤣

Our support teams have advised that the problem has been resolved. Is that the case for you all?

I had a temporary fix yesterday,  it tried to do it again today. So I went into Iplayer and turned over all the previews etc....

Did anyone else have a strange video clip advert last night 27 Jan 2026.  It was three short spooky video clips which repeated over and over blocking the program. What was worse was it was on every channel.  It was on even after a hard reboot bug everything was fine this morning.

The solution to this problem is on page one if people want it. I also reposted it.

BBC iPlayer. Sign in or create an account. When in the app, turn off the trailer preview on the main screen. Go into the settings menu and turn off the auto play.

You must sign in for the auto play option to appear.

I'm just watching sky sports news or bbc and this random advert comes on, not even when an advert break is supposed to happen, the weather had just come on and it cut to this random advert, no sound and doesn't complete, freezes within about 5/10 seconds. I have to change the channel then go back. It happens on any of the channels I'm watching on Sky and started about a week ago. And it is very frequent...really frustrating!

Hi @knz 

This sounds like it is an issue with Sky's AdSmart technology, where they insert selected ads in a specified ad break or on demand.

Have you tried a powering off (at the mains) for a few minutes and back on again to see if that resolves?

Thanks I'll try that but it's not a looping issue, it's just one random advert every 15 mins or so coming in, but hopefully this solves the issue!
