Re: Lip Sync issues - Sky Stream

I'm not conflating. It is exactly the same lip sync problem on Sky Q. Run Sky Q at 1080p or 2160p and pass sound through your soundbar using optical and there is no lip sync problem with SD and HD programmes. Change the connections using HDMI and 1080p or 2160p and the lip sync is on nearly every programme whether SD or HD.

Re: Lip Sync issues - Sky Stream

Many thanks @KevNewMedia - I admire you for putting your head above the parapet when answering as a Sky employee.  It would be interesting to know if you reply as an individual (in which case good for you!) or whether this is a Sky-sanctioned response.  Your reply still

begs the questions - why do Sky continue to sell this product  knowing that it has an ongoing, long-standing problem and why do they not compensate users who experience the problem.

Maybe any future advert for Sky Stream should contain the following caveat:-

"This is a great product but unfortunately for you, some users will experience an annoying  lip sync problem that we have been unable to fix for over a year. We keep supplying software updates but so far none of these have solved the problem.  Even the latest update might not solve the problem but - eh -  you can't blame us for trying.

Oh, by the way and  for the avoidance of any doubt, do not expect us to  offer you any significant  information regarding the problem or compensate you for the sub-standard service we are providing you with  - just suck it up!"

Re: Lip Sync issues - Sky Stream

I do agree that as a marketing exercise this whole thing has been a shambles.   It would make a great case-study for someone studying Marketing Communications and I wish I had been given that on a plate like this when I was struggling to find something for my MarComms project!    The problem Sky has is that you never really know who hears all the negative news and goes to BT/Virgin/etc etc.    If it hits the IT/Digital press then there will be more damage to their sales.

Hi @Keith-1  The lip sync issue has been happening for some time and Sky have been working hard to find a solution.  Have a look at the "Answer" to THIS thread.  You will see that Sky have started rolling out an update which they are hoping will resolve / improve the issue. Currently this update appears to be rolling out to Glass TVs as I have not seen any posts mentioning a puck has been updated (mine hasn't and I am normally in the first 5% batch when pucks are updated).

In the meantime if you notice the lip sync simply flip to another channel and then back again as this will get it back in sync.

If it has helped please give it a "Like"

Re: Sky tv sound - constantly out of sync

I swapped to sky S from  a dish and it is a constant issue...    I think if they cant solve it I will need to leave .  Fix it by stopping and starting tv and sky box but it drifts to a terrible level of sync gap box is direct link to sky hub.

Re: Sky tv sound - constantly out of sync

I have found if you pause the program for a short while and then fast . When you start it again  it's OK

Re: Lip Sync issues - Sky Stream

Had I known about the infuriating  Sky stream lip sync issues as well as the puck customisation, to prioritise TV channels over streaming, being ziltch (I want my pick to go straight to TV channels when it turn it on and not have to do 3453 extra button presses to get there) I would have stayed with virgin

@ShaunFielding if you're within your 31 days cooling-off period - I assume you are, as it wouldn't take that long to discover the way the user interface works -  you can cancel.

Re: Lip Sync issues - Sky Stream

Hi all,

I know it may be to soon but anybody had the new update QS35 because I really hope they solved it but not holding my breath. I'm cancelling if it doesn't fix. Like I've stated before a year to fix ridiculous. Everyone with this issue should get a years compensation.

Re: Lip Sync issues - Sky Stream

Not exactly a lip sync issue but does anyone else think this level/badges nonsense on the Sky Community platform should be removed.  I have just received a "badge" for signing in three days in a row - wow!  The last time I got anything like this was getting a "gold star" for good behaviour in primary school.  Time for Sky to ditch this nonsense and treat contributors like adults.

I've just realised that by signing in today, I will probably get another badge............ D--n!

Re: Lip Sync issues - Sky Stream

@Skyman89 not yet and the whole thing from Sky is taking far too long and not very efficient at all. It was awful during the F1. I agree that we as customers should be getting refund or a credit. It's not sufficient at all

Have you asked? I'd have thought it highly unlikely that Sky will volunteer anything.
