Jerky image today
Signed up for Sky stream mainly to watch Championship football. I have been very disappointed with the picture quality. My Internet speed is plenty fast enough and I can watch all other programs and sports with an excellent picture. Unfortunately on Sky sports+ football I experience picture freeze and then it speeds up to catch up. Today, watching Coventry v Norwich, the picture was slightly jerky, making it hard to watch. What could be the problem? Bear in mind that nothing is affected only football.

Re: Jerky image today
Was this one of the extra games on SS+? If it was, there's been issues with these for a while and I think it's because Sky are using the EFL's iFollow streams and they're pretty shonky and seem to have lower bandwidth available from the stadium. Basically, it's the EFL providing the streams as cheaply as possible.

Re: Jerky image today
Thank you for your reply. If that's the case then Sky should come clean and admit the problem. As far as I can remember, when I used to watch matches on Now TV either main broadcasts or the red button games, I didn't experience picture freeze or jerkiness.

Re: Jerky image today
It's not a technical issue as such, just the EFL providing a cheap, low bandwidth feed as they're the host broadcaster. More often than not, the images are captured by the host club for training analysis and their own highlight reels. The EFL then use them for iFollow or redistribute to Sky but the EFL really need to increase the bandwidth to stop the "buffering"...

Re: Jerky image today
Answer is simple. For the majority of extra matches being broadcast on sky sports +, sky take the EFL feed.
The EFL feeds have low production costs, fewer cameras etc.

Thanks for your answers and I guess we just have to accept a lower quality service while being able to watch more Championship games and paying Sky handsomely for the privilege.
In any other situation we could, under consumer law, return the product for a refund as not being fit for purpose................

Re: Jerky image today
Just found this as part of a larger article.
With a larger number of matches to be broadcast concurrently, IMG and the League will work with NEP Connect Limited to upgrade existing bandwidth and resilience.
Doesn't seem to be working??

Re: Jerky image today
@Ianpat1 Did you really expect sky to have a 40 Camera UHD set up for every single football league game ? The cost would be absolutely outrageous and unaffordable. Sky aren't charging extra for sky sports plus

Re: Jerky image today
With due respect, that's not what I am complaining about. Most, if not all of the games on Sky+ are in HD which is fine by me. I am also happy with a very limited number of camera angles. My point was, that I would have expected Sky to have sorted out the bandwidth problem before the big launch so we can at the very least have a decent image to look at.

You can cancel Sky Stream/Sky Sports ... if you are unhappy with the service😉
