Re: Itv picture issue

I'd bombard ITV too - it's almost certainly their issue so contact them directly https://itv-vs-hub.kustomer.help/en_gb/contact/itv-programmes-form-5-S1VnW8WSI

Re: Itv picture issue

Sky stream is a closed user system. We pay our money to Sky. This is firmly a Sky issue, it's their responsibility to ensure that 3rd party broadcasters provide a stream of suffice quality. This isn't satellite, where each broadcaster has their own contracts with Astra. My contract is with Sky not ITV

@Anonymous I understand where you are coming from but realistically if the issue is at the ITV end there is not much Sky can do other than to notify ITV and ask them to find a solution.  I have seen posts in this thread saying that the issue is also being experienced by Virgin Media customers.  This would be a clear indication that the issue is with the ITV broadcasts.

I just hope it gets resolved ASAP 🤞

Re: Itv picture issue

I disagree @Fothergill1 Sky have a commercial contract with ITV to broadcast on stream. I have a contract with Sky. It's Skys issue to take this up with ITV, not the customer. Satellite delivery on free to air channels is completely different. I have no contact with ITV, therefore they've no obligation.

@Anonymous  The T's and Cs for Glass when Glass launched used to say something along the lines of that is was outside of Sky's hands around what the service from the  3rd party broadcast providers - I'll be surprised if that's changed, rather I'd say it probably reiterates it being further that it's outside of Sky's hands.  This issue was discussed many times previously by myself and others on this forum early in lifecycle of Glass, and I do say I agree with you and it's a potential Achilles Heel in the concept of Glass.

Anyway, what's to lose by also lodging a complaint to ITV via the form?  I have and complained via X.  More traction in this space may mean more emphasis on it from ITVs end.

@Anonymous As I said, Sky have to ask ITV to fix the issue.  Sky will of course try to get it sorted but they cannot do it without input from ITV's, so they will need to liaise on the issue.

Anyway, as I said hopefully it will get fixed (not matter who does it) 🤞.  It's annoying but I'm losing any sleep over it 😀

Re: Itv picture issue

The term service would relate to the programming not the picture quality.

Re: Itv picture issue

@Fothergill1 With  respect we dont know that its ITV issue -  it could well be an issue at skys end. I too have virgin stream and the picture quality of ITV 1 is perfect, contray to another post. Who is to  say this isnt skys issue? The pictire on Freeview, Virgin stream and ITX is perfect for me. Ehy does everyone jump to skys defence, when it could be an issue their end

@Anonymous And you are being provided with a service, but there's nowhere in the T's and Cs that state what the quality of that service, in this particular case picture quality, should be, and probably for good reason.

No-one's jumping to their defence - I raised this to Sky privately via a DM to one of their employees here last week and I know it's been escalated within Sky, but it certainly doesn't hurt to raise it to ITV too so get both sets of organisations working towards a fix.

I can't imagine Sky will do any further processing or encoding from a 3rd party provided stream else they would be responsible at that point for any play out issues, and indeed that's something they don't want.  I imagine that the stream and metadata are sent as they're received else I'd have expected to see this issue on other non ITV channels too.

@Anonymous My comment was purely off the back of the earlier post by someone saying it was also effecting VM subscribers.

TBH I couldn't care less whose issue it is as long as it gets fixed at some point. In the overall scheme of things the issue is a little annoying but pretty minor. I reported it to Viewer Relations a few days ago but other than that I'm certainly not going to worry about it.

And with nothing available saying different since then, it's a reasonable assumption to assume it's still the case.
