Issue with Sky Stream

At the same time every night for the past week or so, 7pm/8pm, my Sky Stream has been buffering and not working. Some times it comes up that it's a technical fault, others it says to wait for the programme to load and then goes blank. During these times when I manage to get it to play it stops after a few minutes, or continues but there's a delay between picture and sound. I've checked my WiFi, it's fine. I've reset it in settings and the check in settings has said it looks good. Does anyone know what's going on?

Hi @NiamhK

This would point to an issue local to you, perhaps with your broadband connection and/or suffering contention. I certainly haven't experienced any such issue. Who is your ISP? And what connection speed do you get? Sky say you need 25 Mbps for HD and 30Mbps for UHD.

Also are their any patterns whoxhay help pin point the issue? Such as you always watch the same channel at that time, or there is something else going on in your household around that time?

Re: Issue with Sky Stream

Hi,

Thank you for your reply.

I ran a speed test this morning and got 87.44 Mbps. I will run another tonight at the usual time where the connection starts to act up.

There's nothing else happening in the household around that time that could contribute to the issue.

I'll see what result the speed test tonight gives.

@NiamhK  When checking the speed you need to know what is being received at the puck and not the speed  being received at the router.

To run an accurate check on the speed at the puck go to the Netflix App (Get help > Check network).  The minimum speeds recommended by Sky are as follows:

HD = 25mbps

UHD = 30mbps

HD + 1 puck = 30mbps

UHD + 1 puck = 35mbps

Re: Issue with Sky Stream

Do you have more than one puck or streaming device? Do you have other internet uesr at home who come online at this time?

Before i upgraded my broadband, my circuit (75mbps down) couldn't handle one uhd and one HD from my two pucks without picture distrubance and buffering.
