I have sky stream but the TV refers to Sky Q, is this correct

I have changed from Sky Q to Sky stream along with a new LG TV, why does the new TV refer to Sky Q when setting up,

I cannot connect the remote to turn on the TV using the sky remote or use the volume, I have been through the connection process but cannot get any volume, help needed

Presumably because LG hasn't updated their auto-detection: you may find this changes with the television firmware version.

It is a new LG TV should I go back to the shop.  It has never been connected to SKY Q.  The fact it is brininging up Sky Q will that stop the Sky remote from providing volume

The 'Sky Q' is just a name flag, for any generic Sky box the LG TV shows as connected.

Possibly what you mean is your tv hdmi source flag shows as your Sky Stream box starts up, with a brief tv generated flag showing the words Sky Q on screen.

On your LG T V

Go to Home Hub, select the 3 dots at top right of screen

Select edit inputs.
Select the hdmi port you want to edit and change the name to something like 'Sky Stream'.

As for your volume issue, try repairing your remote as below and try a number of the selected TV sequence options, sometimes it can be trying 20 or so.

Press and hold 7 and 9 together for 3 seconds.

Press and hold 1 and 3 together for 3 seconds.

Wait until you see the 'Your remote is now connected' message and select Continue

Follow the on screen instructions for connecting your TV.
