How does new sky box work?

As a new sky customer, I've just received and plugged in the sky TV box-I don't even know what to call it. There is very little instruction and when I plug it in to the TV I get a screen was just says let's get connected. Nothing responds to the remote control. It seems impossible to talk to anyone on the phone about this. I'm amazed there's so little information. 
we also have a new broadband router and I don't understand no has anyone explain the connection between the little box that you plug into the TV and the router. If someone can hook me up to a complete guide of how the whole set up works, I'll be very grateful.

@Musicspirit108 check you have fully removed the paper battery protection from the remote its easy to leave it bit behind. The back does slip off but they can be stiff. If you have then call `sky as you have got a dodgy remote.

Oncectge rdmote works the onscreen instructions are pretty clear on how tonget your puck up and running.
