Just setup and started using Sky Stream today.
I have so say, so far, it seems great.
I've noticed a couple of things with installation and initial use that I feel may be confusing people, myself included, which Sky may want to look at.
The first thing which confused me was on the initial install, when the Puck was doing a software update, a progress bar is shown on screen, but the progress bar didn't update, so it looked like the whole process had hung, but it hadn't and 2 minutes late it suddenly said "update complete".
Signing into Netflix generated an error, which when I googled it, said the Netflix App needed to be restarted, and to unplug the Puck for a minute, such I did and which fixed it.... not the behaviour a consumer product should really exhibit, and not everyone would be able to google the error and find the solution.
However, so far I LOVE SKY STREAM! 😀

Hi @Chris4Stream welcome to the Sky glass/stream family 👍🏻 it's going to take you a while to familiarise your self with the various sections on stream,
May I suggest, from the home screen you scroll down to the row of tiles at the bottom you will see some very helpful videos from Sky,
Also you can use the voice command 'Help' or 'Help Me' which will give you more info regarding the features and use of your stream puck,
Hope this helps, 👍🏻

We've had it for a couple of weeks and it took a few days of playing to get used to how it works. I'm slowly getting my head around "recording" but the deep integration of the various apps seems to be very effective.
Oh and the picture quality stunning.
The only issue I've had is that it forces the AppleTV app to push Dolby Vision through as the default HDR and my TV doesn't support that format. So, for AppleTV I'm sticking with pre-loaded app on the TV which I'm perfectly fine with. Tbh, I'll probably stick to the TV menu's for the majority of the apps as it doesn't mean I need two things turned on. But overall, I'm finding it to be a cracking bit of it.
Oh and our cat sitter asked where the Sky box is and she was pretty shocked when I said it's the little box on the TV stand 🤣

Yeah, I'm still learning, day one for me!
But so far so good.
Had ITX go blank on me after an advert, but that is the only negative.
I like the MYSky thing where you can add stuff and cancel it.
I expect I will end up spending more than I wanted, however, I think the idea of just having Movies over Xmas great.
I keep checking MySky for offers!!!!!! 😁
I love the remote, it feels soft in the hand and is backlit, but I am worried about other users reporting battery issues, so time will tell.
There is one feature I love....my Stream box had gone into standbay mode, so showing various progams it htrought I would like (not even close!) however, when I picked up the remote, it changed to the Home Screen, even before I had pressed any button!!!!! Love That!
It sensed I had picked up the remote and displayed the home screen!

I went all in with Sky Sports, TNT and Sky Cinema with the UHD and Add Skip bolt ons with multi-room... I kinda accidentally pushed my monthly price up to more than my previous package with BT but not by much so I can rebalance it when my broadband is due for renewal in February... Also, the TV side of things is so much better than NowTV package through BT. Gangs of London S2 in UHD was fantastic and I'm looking forward to my first F1 this weekend in UHD because I missed last weekends race due to being on holiday 😞

Yeah, they kind of draw you in.
So I have added UHD free for 4 months
Netflix Premium (I think Netflix is asking too much for this)
And Sky Sports
With the UHD add on, as far as I can see, there is very little content if you don't either subcribe to Sky Sports or Sky Cinema, for example, I would love to see Rob & Romesh in UHD , they crack me up! 😂

Hi @Chris4Stream Pleased your beginning to get you head around Stream,
To find out which TV shows are available in UHD, from the home screen scroll down one rail and click on TV shows, then scroll down to Genres, then keep clicking right until you get to Ultra HD,
Hope that helps?
31 Aug 2023 07:47 PM
Yeah, now found that, thx @Freddieboy69
He's a wild idea, maybe one of the Supermods could pick it up.
But if you have an active UHD subcription, why not put the UHD tab at the front of the list???
Simplies! 😂

@Chris4Stream Rob and Romesh is HD but there is actually a fair bit of UHD stuff especially on the big drama Sky Originals and HBO stuff... For me, this is an added bonus because I had the UHD bolt on mainly for football and F1... No point having a 55" QLED if you're not gonna use it 👌

My point is why make the little UHD content there is so hard to find????
Just put the UHD tab at the start of the list for Customers with a UHD subcription?

I totally agree with you there @Chris4Stream if you have a UHD sub it should definitely be more prominent,
I also think the Help Videos should be at the top of the Home Page for new customers, you never know someone may take notice.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@Chris4Stream I dont know whether you have found it but in the picture settings there is an option for the default download quality set that to UHD and when there is a UHD version of a show you should be offered that as the default. The problem is only a relatively small proportion of programming is produced in UHD
A Sky manager at a stated at a session for the Superusers that its a minority of customers who use UHD the reply I gave was that's hardly suprising if its so difficult to find.😀 However Sky are very slowly improving their UHD offer, the swap of UHD versions of Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports F1 channels is recent and at least means you get the UHD version by default rather than via the red button. If you scroll down to the bottom of the Sports section of the channel guide you will see "channels" in the 6000s which are thhe streams that carry any other UHD sports which is helpful if you want to put those in your playlist as they then "record".

I've only had Stream for a week and wish I'd made the move sooner. In the past I've had Q but I have to say that at this early stage I much prefer Stream. Only very minor issue I've had was with the UHD F1 (406) highlights last Sunday. I 'playlisted' it to watch back later but have only been offered the HD version to playback. As I say, not a biggie, especially when every other aspect of the service is exceptional. I love the app integration with Stream.
Like @Nigelb1972 I've also came over from BT TV and taken the full package (minus Kids).
