Point 1:
My contract ends on 10-Jan-2026. I want to cancel when it ends on that day. I'm not looking to break a contract early and early termination charges. Called Sky yesterday 25-Nov-2025, which is 46 days before the day I want the service to end. I'm told I can't give notice now, I have to wait until 10-Dec-2025.
I have looked at the "How to Cancel your Sky TV Subscription" page on your website (Link not permitted) which very clearly says "To cancel your subscription, you need to give us at least 31 days notice"
I am giving you 46 days notice. This fully meets the "at least 31 days" requirement.
Point 2:
The Sky Stream box (or cloud software behind it) does not work as it should. I have a <30% success rate at recording cycling which is why I subscribed to TNT sports. Unfortunately despite setting up series record, most time I got home the cycling was not recorded. I followed the instructions, went through resets, no success.
I currently watch news clips or a favourite of mine is the "Trump 100" podcast. 100% of the time I switch on the Sky Stream box and watch the first clip it will fail a few minutes in. I have to go back watch the whole thing again to get past that as you cannot forward or reverse these clips. It doesn't happen again.
The Ad Skipping is very glitchy. It regularly hangs up the whole system and I have to switch it off to watch TV again
So hopefully my complaint is perfectly clear. The Sky Stream Box service is not a good product and I would like a refund for the charges related to that since my first complaint which was during the summer cycling season. I have done multiple resets, it's not that. The service is just not good and I should not be charged for a service that is not working. I am surrounded by people with illeagal "Dodgy Boxes" and they tell me they have no where near the issues I have for this paid service. I'm really not surprised they are so prevalent.
The broadband is fine, rarely have any issues whatsoever. It's fast, not too expensive and happy to pay for that.
Sky are making ending this contract at the end of the 12 month period so difficult. This is wrong on so many levels. It is a barrier put in front of honest customers that don't circumvent the law and use "Dodgy Boxes" showing content your industry produces. Who are the bandits here?

@WearyViewer To cancel all your TV subscription, if you’re out of contract you’ll need to give Sky the required 31 days notice. The latest T’s and C’s explicitly state you can’t cancel when still in a minimum term deal unless Sky agree. If they agree you’ll have to pay the remainder of your discounted term.
Select ‘Need more help’ at the bottom of the following link which will lead to contact details.
https://www.sky.com/help/articles/cancel-sky-tv#contact-leave
(Make sure the flag in the bottom right corner is the correct one ie; UK or ROI).
UK customer ~ The link may include an email link and also a Message Us option (which is normally available between 9am and 7.30pm).
ROI customer ~ it’s only by calling Sky Ireland or writing in.
If you successfully cancel you should receive an acknowledgment email from Sky.
If you are cancelling Sky Q, return packaging will be sent out near the end of your notice period. It’s important that you obtain proof of posting and keep it safe and indefinitely.
If you’re moving to another ISP you could use the One Touch Switching system which is explained in this link
https://www.uswitch.com/broadband/guides/one-touch-switch/
If you are cancelling Broadband/Talk altogether you need to contact Sky and give the required notice of 14 days. Remember that if you are still in a discounted 18/24 months deal Sky could impose cancellation charges.
Return packaging for any equipment Sky expect back will be sent out to you near the end of any notice period. Remember to keep any proof of posting indefinitely.

Re: Ending Contract
Thank you for the reply and I do appreciate it but I think maybe my point needs further clarity.
A dictionary definition of cancel is: "to make void, as a contract or other obligation" and that is not what I am trying to do, not today or yesterday when I spend 40 minutes of my time wainting on hold and then talking to a Sky representative, because yes as you point out in the ROI my choices as I well know are in writing or on the phone.
So what I tried to do yesterday was not cancel exactly but instead to Give notice to cancel. As I say, it clearly says on the website "Give us at least 31 days notice". I get it 30 or 29 days wouldn't meet that requirement but no matter wat way you look at that 46 days notice meets the "At least" portion of that statement.
Of course it shoud be pointed out that in the ROI I can sign up online for all kinds of services but cannot give notice to cancel unless I do so in writing or by phone.
My point is Sky deliberately make it difficult to cancel by insisting on exactly 31 days notice, despite saying "At least...." on the website. I travel with my work a lot. I don't know for sure but it is likely be on a business trip on 10-Dec. The person at sky committed to call me between 10-11 on 10-Dec-2025 in order to facilitate me giving 31 days notice. As I will likely be in the US that'sprobably around 5a.m. And for what? so the notice to cancel can be the required 31 Days.
Sorry but that has to be the most ridiculous requirement I have ever encountered in a contract.
Again, for 100% clarity I'm not trying to get out of contract early, just want to make sure I don't pay out of contract (Non-discounted) price when this very lack luster Sky Stream contract finally comes to an end.
I genuinely appreciate your reply, but my discussion is asking how do I give notice to cancel it, but how difficult Sky make it, to do just that.
