Dolby Atmos dropouts
Hi, I have random dolby atmos audio dropouts , I have samsung s90c oled tv with samsung q700b soundbar with subwoofer , I also have ps5 and nvidia shield pro and on both ps5, shield and native tv never ever have had these dropouts. The dropouts with sky are completely random , like once or twice a movie or a series episode and extremely annoying , I have tried every single workaround, is this ever going to get fixed? I am pretty much done with sky stream with all the issues over the years

Re: Dolby Atmos dropouts
Sounds like your running in Pass-Through mode, change your audio output to Digital Dolby Plus as this contains all the codecs. Providing your soundbar supports the format, you'll get Atmos with no dropouts the only downside is that Netflix doesn't support this Atmos through this option as they only support Atmos via Pass-Through which is stupid because they run the highest compression

Re: Dolby Atmos dropouts
Unfortunately if I put dolby digital plus on puck and passthrough on my tv , I get no sound and if I put auto on my tv and dolby digital plus on puck then I get crackly sound , I have nvidia shield which converts everything into dolby digital plus and I've never had any issues , I shouldn't have to do this anyway , I pay for dolby atmos and that's what I should be getting

Re: Dolby Atmos dropouts
Ahh yup I missed it smuggled into the list. Have you tried updating your firmware on the soundbar?
If your Nvidia is on Pass-Through, this is a different format to DD+ (E AC3)

This is a known fault and has been going on for months with no fix in sight I'm afraid. I'm like you, I shouldn't have to change settings to get Stream to work properly as intended. It's a bit of a joke really, I don't have to change Apple TV settings or Amazon fire stick settings to make them work as intended. This should have been fixed a long ago @Mojav

Re: Dolby Atmos dropouts
It doesn't matter what I put nvidia on as it never drops out any sound and I play lossless dolby atmos tru hd on it without any problems , it's just that the hardware on this puck is **bleep**

Re: Dolby Atmos dropouts
DD+ is a lossy codec.

Re: Dolby Atmos dropouts
Since I set my Puck to DD+ the dropouts I used to get have ceased, crazy that people are still having this issue. I would add that I only had issues on live football, never had them on other linear channels or streaming apps like Netflix etc.

Re: Dolby Atmos dropouts
Called sky and raised a complaint on this , mention about the 20 pages long thread here with no fix on dolby atmos , issue acknowledged and when threatened to take it further got 2 years worth of uhd atmos subscription back over 144 quid but bizarrely no fix apparently still even in the pipeline , insane
