Does/Can Sky Stream's interface behave the same as any other Live TV EPG guide?

My 84 year old dad currently watches TV via Sky Q 'Sky Signature' package. He only really watches channels that are on Freeview.

He is paying Sky an obscene amount (£160 per month) although that includes broadband and call anytime service but multiroom, Sky Cinema, Ultra HD (his TV is only 1080P) among others are wasted on him. I think he's been missold some of this stuff.

Nevertheless, Sky are offering Sky Ultimate TV with 500Mb broadband for £39. This seems fine for him as he doesn't record any programs.

What makes me hesitant is the fact that the programs are only streamed, so what I need to find out is if it still uses a live TV guide/EPG method?

Forget using apps, he won't watch programs that way so Netflix (that comes with the current and new package) is just wasted on him. He needs the old fashioned live TV guide and even if the streaming method does still have this service, does it look or work completely differently from the one you find on Sky Q?

It's really frustrating but at that age he's really picky and is set in his routine.

BTW, he currently can't just watch Freeview instead because the folks who put new tiles on his roof removed the TV aerial and never put it back.

Thanks very much and hope you can help

Hi @Spunglefoop  yes there is a live tv EPG, but you have to start the stream then scroll to it. Currently the stream won't start at the tv guide.

A smart television with Freely on-board might be more suitable than Sky Stream if you want an 'old fashioned live TV guide', and that way only a broadband subscription for a few tens of Mbs is required (plus a TV licence if he's not exempt from that)

Stream does (and probably always will) start at the rather complicated Home page rather than a channel listing.
